I definitely understand your feelings about the novel; I ended up DNF-ing it, because I just couldn't care less about the plot or the characters. It's such a pity, because I was SO EXCITED for this novel - I loved how dark it sounded and it was marketed as a novel with morally gray characters. Which, honestly, might be true later on, but at the part I got to, they were simply bland and boring. I'm glad you found some enjoyment in the novel, however. :) Great review!

Wow, this sounds so darn good, and I've only seen positive things about it so far. I love what you said about the romance - that it was great, that the guy was lovely, BUT it wasn't the emphasis of the book. I'm happy you could relate to the heroine so much - on that note, I cannot wait to finally read Starfish - and hope you'll get to meet with the author one day. Also, the whole concept of a novel centered around the relationship of a mother and a daughter makes me so incredibly excited, there are far too few YA books where family is so important in a character's life. On a side note, the UK cover is absolutely gorgeous, and at the top of my to-buy list, so I'll likely have this one very soon. Fantastic review!

This post was fantastic! I loved getting a glimpse into how much research goes into a book - especially considering that, as the author mentioned, so much of that work doesn't make it into the book. As for the book, IT SOUNDS AMAZING!! Really looking forward to it.

So, my March was super-hectic thanks to uni, and I missed much of March Madness, but I'm finally here, and wow, this book sounds amazing! And this is the first time I'm seeing it, so thank you for putting it on my radar, Holly. Love the cover, love the plot, and the fact that it is a standalone (at least I assume so) fantasy makes me SO HAPPY. We need more of those for real.
