Hi Guest from the West,

I appreciate your comments but believe my statements to be factual. Facebook is notorious for having their default settings set to "share" personal information. Users have the responsibility of trying to figure out all the correct settings themselves and for the average user this can be a nightmare.

You'll also note I stated I am far from being a cheerleader for any company seeking to monopolize a space; the scope of the interview was to cover what G+ was for viewers of CT that had likely heard about it but didn't understand it.

If you really want to get technical and go down the open source social networking rabbit hole, Diaspora is an excellent solution for social networking (https://joindiaspora.com/) that also places privacy first. It was started by college students that raised funding for their project on Kickstarter.

We had a limited amount of time in this interview and I was attempting to explain G+ to the viewing audience as best I could in the amount of time allotted. As for me being in Google's pocket, I can only dream- (that's a joke)- but I assure you I am not. :)

I do enjoy a good debate and do appreciate the comments. Please feel free to reach out to me personally at Edward.Domain@tech.li or check out the work my team and I do at http://tech.li or read my articles on Crain's Chicago Business' website in the 'Enterprise City' section.

Sincerely,
Edward Domain

Right you are Louise- I made the correction just now to "without" re: incumbents and the wording to the years of Daley administrations.

Jeff,

I deleted the comment for the earlier poster- it was a spammer trying to build links back to his site. He had left the same comment on over 30 posts through the site and I just deleted them all. and if you see our Facebook page- you have some positive comments there as well

There was some discussion of the Dream Act and I think I could have worded that paragraph (about H1B Visas) better- by saying the Senator was "shocked," I meant to convey that he would like to see these students graduating with advanced degrees stay in the U.S. on re-reading it I can see where it may sound a bit different- on the "double edged sword" issue of granting Visas it was because the media at large as well as members of the public that don't understand tech seem to think giving tech jobs to foreigners hurts our workers and the Senator admitted he needed answers to these charges.

As Jeremie Bacon (correctly) stated- the people being laid off from traditional jobs don't have the skill sets employers need.

I apologize for any clunkiness in my conveying the message- the Senator is on the side of keeping talented workers in our country-
