At this stage it is about sheer vengeance ,SF will take revenge for Robinsons comments with regards to arrests and Robinson will retaliate and on it will trundle until absolute chaos reigns and dialogue ceases . You could almost smell the hatred that exists at the moment . If arrests or convictions follow these investigations it is unlikely that SF will remain in government and the DUP would be politically savaged by Allister . Election would then follow with SF asking their electorate to endorse an end to political policing and the DUP seeking more and more arrests of Republicans . Opinion polls would probably see both of these parties vote hold steady if not grow as the rhetoric gets more and more vicious. It is extremely difficult to see how any compromise can be achieved to get Stormont to function normally . It is now the time to have a serious look at Plan B from St Andrews because if this major malfunction of an assembly is allowed to limp along any further it will reduce what's left of NI politics to its lowest level since the hunger strikes.
