http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/ : Catch-22 for DPP over whether to charge Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams - BelfastTelegraph.co.uk

I wouldn't vote for SF myself but Adams was jailed not once but twice for being in the IRA ,what on earth would be the point in charging him now when he there wasn't even a court case on the first two occasions ,either go after everyone or grant amnesties in return for the truth because the current system will only destroy the political process if allowed to continue , if indeed it hasn't already done so.

scotsbill, just so as you understand ,the statement you posted can be traced through the email system to yourself , in the event of charges and a possible trial ,you could be called to give evidence and asked to substantiate this allegation ,this is not as difficult as you think because your email address is on file with the organisers of this site. Gerry Adams lawyer is no slouch ,postings like yours which are left on these sites for more than 24 hours can easily be put on file and used as evidence .

Scary, some interesting thoughts there ,if there had been a simulteanous arrest of someone from the opposite camp then i would say there was a level playing field but if there is an agenda at the top echelons of the PSNI and it is biased then theres trouble ahead. There is no doubt about it SF are a slick machine they can really kick up a huge stink when things go against them.

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/ : Gerry Adams arrest: Leadership lacking as we lurch into a new crisis - BelfastTelegraph.co.uk

I don't agree with Liam Clarke that Stormont will survive into the future ,certainly not in the same fashion as it now exists ,too much filthy water under the bridge . At this stage it is about sheer vengeance ,SF will take revenge for Robinsons comments with regards to arrests and Robinson will retaliate and on it will trundle until absolute chaos reigns and dialogue ceases . You could almost smell the hatred that exists at the moment . If arrests or convictions follow these investigations it is unlikely that SF will remain in government and the DUP would be politically savaged by Allister . Election would then follow with SF asking their electorate to endorse an end to political policing and the DUP seeking more and more arrests of Republicans . Opinion polls would probably see both of these parties vote hold steady if not grow as the rhetoric gets more and more vicious. It is extremely difficult to see how any compromise can be achieved to get Stormont to function normally . It is now the time to have a serious look at Plan B from St Andrews because if this major malfunction of an assembly is allowed to limp along any further it will reduce what's left of NI politics to its lowest level since the hunger strikes.

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/ : The collapse of the Stormont institutions is not inevitable, but it is much closer than most people

Alex ,when you blame the big two parties for the fiasco at Stormont you are in fact blaming the voting electorate by default . It would seem to me that there are two main issues ,firstly an economic issue ,when the securicor van arrives annually with the block grant from Westminster it is welcome ,but you can't put identity and cultural issues into a van ,these have to be sorted out in an even fashion between communities and their representatives , if this can't be done then St. Andrews default position should be imposed. Just kidding about the van.
