Personally, this is the episode that sold me on this series. I liked the first one (apart from killing off Grace. Booooo. No offense to the others, but I would not have minded if it had been just her and the Doctor going on grand adventures together), but this one is absolutely amazing. What an experience! The acting is soooo good in this episode, especially Michelle Gomez in her (presumably) final appearance as Missy Now, Saxon did say he had killed her permanently, and lots of people think this isn't really true. I think this might actually be the case: Missy is the final version of the Master. But! Both Masters were assuming that Saxon will regenerate into Missy next. But what if this is not the case? And there will be more Masters in between that we have yet to meet. I think that might be really interesting.

Rewatching this season with Mark is making it so much better for me. While I love Bill as a companion, I was pretty down on this season, and especially this episode. But seeing it through the eyes of Mark (and some time and knowing how it all plays out) has given me a new appreciation for this season. Because while this episode still has quite a few issues, in the end it is a pretty fun stand alone horror episode, and sometimes that can be just enough. The relationship between Sydney and Shepard is great to watch though, and I'm glad at least he found some answers, disturbing though they might be.

Yes! More like this please! This episode felt a lot more coherent and satisfying then the last couple of episodes. Keep this up Alias! What I also love is how emotional Sydney's character is allowed to be! If you would just read a synopsis of this show, you'd probably expect Sydney to be more calm and collected, because that is what spies usually are on tv shows. And she can be if she wants to be. But when things go wrong, she panics. When she gets upset, she shows it. Missions get messy sometimes when she needs to improvise. I love it.

Mark Watches : Mark Watches 'Alias': S01E01 - Truth Be Told

Alright, full disclosure time, I've tried watching Alias before and I couldn't finish it (stopped halfway somewhere in season 2 I think). Not because I thought it was bad or boring, but I really struggled following its plot. I won't go into spoilers here for obvious reasons, but it was a lot. Maybe it was just me, but I often had no idea when something was "worth remembering" or not. Could be that I just don't do well with J.J. Abrams shows (started both Lost and Fringe, couldn't finish either show for the same reasons...) So! This show is getting a second chance from me, as I know lot of people think it's great. And hopefully following along with Mark will help me better with the plot this time. We'll see. This pilot was pretty great though. Men should get fridged more often. From a narrative point of view that is. Poor Sydney (bit of an overreaction much, Sloane? Never mind, you're an evil criminal). At least she can still be an awesome superspy. Bring it on, Alias!

And here we are, at the end of the intense and beautiful ride that is Person of Interest. What a show. Having now been able to see this fifth season, I think it's unfortunately its weakest one, but at least it got to go out on a high note. Paired with the last episode, I think it's a piece of well-written and amazingly acted television. The death of Reese was sad, but fititing at the same time. I liked Reese, though the nature of his character made him difficult to love and get too invested in (on my part, at least). Although I will now expect all my shows to have the good guys shoot the bad guys in the kneecaps. It's so effective! So thank you for that Reese. And I'm glad Shaw is the one (with Bear!) to carry on. She's now without Root (sadface forever), but if anyone can survive that, it's Sameen. And at least she got to have revenge. A spin-off would be welcome, though I doubt it will happen. Maybe there is fanfiction? At least Shaw will have to do this without Harold. Spin-off or not, I think he's done with it and deserves a well earned retirement with Grace. Whether in creating the Machine he changed the world for the better is hard to say (though I'd like to think so), but he always tried to do the right thing. I respect him for that. So, farewel Person of Interest. Maybe I'll do a rewatch some day, but for now I'm content in having experienced a show like this. Bravo!

Nope, nopediy, nope nope! Ugh, this episode is so upsetting. Root is such a wonderful and unique character and it sucks so much to lose her. Especially so quickly after having her reunited with Shaw. Like, can't we at least have one episode of them being cute together? Apparently not... (guess we have to blame the guy - and it must have been a man - who decided this season would only get 13 episodes). Considering what a terrible person she was before she met Team Machine and the redemptio she makes, at least it makes narrative sense to me that she went out protecting someone else. The Machine was everywhere the whole time!!! EEEEEEEEEH! This finale is so tense and nerve wrecking I love it. It's kinda odd to see Elias go out like that, but in the same way kinda fitting in the overall narrative? Still could have done without the Dominic of it all though. It just never worked for me. I do wonder if any of this was planned from the beginning of this show, or if the writers suddenly realized; ow fuck, we have created this powerful A.I.! Maybe we should actually do something with that?!? Regardless, from this point on I will be blind, as I've never seen season 5 before. To the point where I didn't even know there were a lot less episodes? HOW IS THAT FAIR?!?! Ugh. Will still be excited for what willl be there though. Bring it on!

Putting aside our emotional heartbreak for a second, this episode probably comes as close to a perfect episode as one can get. It's thrilling, frightening and intriguing, while all the while putting a unique twist on it that does not feel gimicky. It's now a week later after I watched it again, and I keep thinking about it. It's just that good. I also love the music in this one, especially the use of The Glitch Mob's Fortune Days when the Machine tries out a new scenario. It's so epic, I still listen to it on a regular basis.
