"It's just a silly prank" is not a statement to be taken lightly. I'm sure it was just a prank when Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei broadcasted Rutger's student Tyler Clementi's sexual engagement with another man without his permission. This of course, as we know, directly contributed Clementi's suicide after having been cyber-bullied and outed as a homosexual. Although not the same as the Clementi case, the suicide of Jacintha Saldanha reinforces the unacceptability of cyber-bullying. People should really understand the potential ramifications of their actions.

I agree that the person, not the instrument, is the cause for concern. That said, firearms are ridiculously easy to obtain thus allowing anyone to obtain one with minimal oversight. Although you, without a background check, may not obtain one from a firearm dealer, that restriction does not apply to gun shows. If I had a medical condition or purposeful intent to harm another, I would be able to purchase a firearm without restriction at a gun show. So yes, it is the person, but we as a society facilitate the action by allowing lax firearm laws.
