One Parade : Minimalist Beauty for Women

As Sandy says - THIS. I agree totally. I've been trying to grow my hair out (haven't had it trimmed or styled since August this year), am cutting down on clothes shopping while maximizing my options with accessories, and am looking (always looking!) for the perfect five-minute makeup routine. I've almost got that one figured out (BB Cream, anyone?) - I'm just going to minimize the things I put on my face for day-to-day situations. There is no need to pile makeup on my face to meet the day. Day be damned, I'm going natural. Also, I've always admired the Final Fantasy ladies (from the most recent installments) ability to look so fresh! I want people to look at me and know what they see is what I am - imperfect but happy in my own skin anyway. This means getting rid of a lot of what I have (not my NAKED palette, though!) and spending more time on my health, not beauty. I'm doing my best with this move I'm having to make to pare down my stuff so that my life is so much simpler. At the moment, I can't do too much about it, but I'm hoping that by being forced to go through my things for storage and what-not, I'll be able to cut some of it down. Love this post :D My recent post Playfire Likes Justin Bieber

One Parade : White Eyeliner vs Nude Eyeliner

Oh my. I totally hate the way the second and third girl you have pictured looks. It is just so fake looking - I can totally tell that they have added something in the hopes of looking more awake or bright-eyed. On the other hand, I much prefer to go without white liner on the water-line. If it was meant to be white, it would be already. Instead, I dab it in the corner of my eyes and smudge it so it subtly makes things look brighter - much easier on the eyes (pun intended) and it doesn't make you look like an alien. If you want to really put something on your waterline, nude liner is the way to go. I would use a lighter nude, probably very close to a shade that could almost be white, but not going too far. It should make things look a bit more uniform, especially if paired with a good concealer. As for drinking water and sleeping, I do too much sleeping and not enough water drinking. Need to balance out the two. I do, however, now spend more time on my beauty routine by focusing on my eyes. I use a brightening eye cream that does wonders without me packing on the concealer and looks a lot more natural. Another way to look more awake and bright: use a good highlighter for your cheek-bones paired with a very lovely, define brow. The brows frame your face and really give it a good shape - defining my brows adds more dimension and texture to my face, taking the beholder's eye away from my circles / bags and focusing on how well my brows look. The highlighter also acts as another draw away from the circles / bags, but in a more subtle fashion, which is why alone it isn't a good "shield." All in all, I prefer natural. It is human nature, biologically, to occasionally have to deal with circles and bags. I don't mind that very much. Obviously, however, if you are very ill and/or they are super noticeable you might want to do some damage control. Thanks for the post - it makes me consider my options more when confronted with this particular issue!

Thanks! I was desperate for some blonde, but now that that isn't an option I'm totally digging the red! I've even had people point and stare, lol. Mostly dudes. One guy even pointed and told his son "I always liked redheads!" LOL. Weird for me to deal with, but nice, nonetheless. I suggest using Born-to-be Blonde in your hair then the color "Burgundy" by Revlon in the Colorsilk line. I guess you could do a salon brightener from Sally's or whatever, but if you can find a shade of Burgundy that you like at Sally's that would probably do best. That's what I'm going to do next time :D

NoirFemme : August Favorites!

It is so awesome! I only wish I could force it to hold its shape better. It fits well inside my purse and holds just about anything you could want, but it tends to fold down around the edges. I'm going to have to see if I can find a remedy. I'm very tempted to take all my planners and consolidate down into my iCal. There is no real need for me to use that many planners, now that I've been thinking about it. I loved the idea at first but now it seems redundant. School planner and notebook stay but the other might be going... Thanks!!

NoirFemme : Review: Book of Shadows Makeup Palettes

These are great and affordable! I definitely recommend them! I was so glad to find these and not be forced into brand and/or Z-palettes! They look loads better holding my makeup and fit in my palette holder thingy fairly well :D I need to depot some stuff and put them in another palette. I currently have two M.A.C. shadows that have been depoted but aren't in anything yet, a few drugstore palettes that could be consolidated into a palette, and a few other things like misc. blushes and stuff that could go in another. It looks much neater in these things than in all those sitting around.

NoirFemme : Minimalism: The difference between what you need and what you want.

After re-reading that post, I seem a little silly, disorganized in thought, and used very cloudy / muddy phrases to get my point across. I\\\'m glad you some-what understood what I meant! Yes, this list actually is helping me out a lot. Some things are hard for me to part with: it isn\\\'t that they bear any sort of personal sentimental value, but they cost a lot of money. Like my bedroom suite was over $1000 - I totally don\\\'t need my chest (all my clothes fit in my dresser). I don\\\'t need the chest, but it goes with the rest, so I\\\'m breaking up a set if I get rid of it. It\\\'s just in the way, though, you know? And my closet takes up room but isn\\\'t useful at all. It\\\'s empty (really) and is in such a position that I couldn\\\'t put my desk in it for a closet office without blocking the rest of the wall. It\\\'s ridiculous. I\\\'m making do, though. I mentioned a room tour on twitter - might do that and then you can see what I mean. Other things are just in my way. If I can\\\'t use them, why have them? There are some things that I can think of uses for, and I\\\'m going to use them, but other than that it is all going the way of the garbage / recycle bin. Thanks for the theme mention! The other was okay but it became very annoying after a while. Just too cutsy and not me at all. This is better but it needs a better logo - might have to redo that after I\\\'ve finished my study guide :D

One Parade : Game Over: What's Your Opinion?

I like the idea of a story that varies based on the choices you make and failures you experience, but I find that a game with too realistic an atmosphere robs me of the reason why I play games - as an escape. Don't get me wrong, I love BioWare's tendency to create a game that will be different no matter how many play-throughs you have, and I definitely am a fan of Heavy Rain (despite issues I've previously blogged about), but I'm not looking for something that requires so much work on my part. With Xbox and PS3 I am such a trophy whore! I've not went back through a game and got all the available trophies yet, but I'm very close with Heavy Rain. I feel when I'm doing the play-through for the trophies that I am working, not playing. I don't want to work, lol! I want to play! But there is still a lot to be said for the changes that video game developers have been making to the standards that we have been used to. Even WoW has a certain amount of linearity to it that you wouldn't expect from an MMO. You chose your faction, race, class, and then you are pretty much set. There is very little you can do to get off the road to lvl 85 in whatever road you chose.

One Parade : Things I'm Loving Right Now

I wish I could go to New Orleans :( Oh well, have enough fun for everyone! I have three Eos lip balms and I LOVE them. I feel a little awkward pulling one out in class to use, but they are so awesome I just deal with it, lol! Not the biggest fan of many veggies but I can totally feel the cucumbers! They are one of my favorite vegetables, next to fresh-picked leaf lettuce! Revlon makes some nice products - personally love their eyeshadow quads because they are easy to slip in your bag and go, like you are going to do. I have one keyed to green eyes, and it does bring out my color nicely. Bonus for no animal testing! I wish I could walk around here, but there are so many weird people that I don't know / trust on this road that I'd be more than a little paranoid the whole time. Must be different in a more urban / city atmosphere because you aren't really hidden away on some road where anything could happen to you and no one would know for a long time.... Happened one too many times around here :( :( I'll stay in and do yoga behind locked doors! LOL!

NoirFemme : Minimalism Realism

Thank you! It helps validate my decision to pare down my life to the essentials and what I absolutely want to have. I know I really don't need validation - I'm not the type of person that thinks we can simply 'do what feels right to us' and think things will be okay - but the fact that someone knows what I'm saying really reinforces my commitment to change my life for what I believe will bring me - and others - the most happiness. One of the things I worry about is how things that need done will get done if I follow my ideas? I know I wouldn't be able to do everything, but if everyone quit their job because it was unfulfilling or decided to stop buying things we didn't need our infrastructure and economy would completely collapse. My little philosophy-loving brain is wearing itself out looking for a happy medium that might be able to make sense of all this. I still look forward to starting to implement my ideas and make my life more meaningful and simple. Bringing happiness to myself and others is my main goal - minimalism and living more zen-like are just the mechanisms by which I plan to work magic.

I've not tried drinking coffee - I've been trying to quit caffeine altogether, but for some reason I can't. I might try that angle, but it doesn't do much for the skin. Maybe it isn't as bad soda? IDK. I need to def make some sort of routine up so that I know my time is prioritized. I have so much trouble with it! I'm terrible with time management. I'm going to try the major goal route tomorrow! I figure it should be my homework...first.
NoirFemme : Personal: First week of classes & regrets!

I have her class again tonight, so I get to see if she treats me differently. I've decided that I'm not going to worry about it - there are things about her that get on my nerves, so maybe that makes us even? She constantly puts on and takes off her glasses! It is so annoying! Over and over she does this, I can hardly concentrate on her slides. She also has a terrible habit of interrupting you when you are wrong so she can say "You are wrong" or "No, good guess". WTF? I don't guess! I don't mind being wrong at all, truly, but calling people out is ridiculous. She's supposed to be helping us figure stuff out, not killing our will to participate in class! Gee whizz. I kept meaning to do the review but I got caught up in what my sister and broinlaw were doing, as usual. I'm going to have to designate a day of the week to my web stuff and tell them to GTFO, lol. I tried to get rid of a lot of things but I totally failed. Instead, I think I just shifted stuff around my room. I did, however, become more aware of what I do have, so hopefully that will mean using it up so I CAN get rid of it. Organization has gotten better, but I've a long way to go to reach my goals of having practically nothing. For some reason the idea of having almost nothing makes me excited, because I know I won't be worried about this or that needing reorganized, or having about thirty of this or that thing that needs used up or taking up space. I sound crazy, but I have way too much stuff I need to find a happy minimum!
One Parade : How To Clean Out Your Closet

I wish I owned where I live so that I could take my closet out and just do like in the image - when I have something organized well, I love to see it and show it off. My current closet is hard to get to (the room is super tiny and my bed blocks the door from opening more than a few inches), has a horribly ugly door, smells, and doesn't even have a good rod system for hanging clothes. I have certain things (like a pea coat, prom dresses, and a few sweaters) that need hung up all the time, and this makes it super inconvenient for me to get to them. I'm not wanting to stay where I am now, but I also don't look forward to a move. I'll figure it out, though! I'll probably take a picture of all the things I'm getting rid of sitting on top of my bed, lol! I know I'll have a lot of school supplies, books, shirts, and other things that I can let go :3 My recent post First week of classes & regrets!

I had originally looked on Amazon but got suckered into buying my books from the campus bookstore because I'd hesitated so long! I'm not going to let them force me to buy these horribly overpriced books, though. Some of them I can replace with older editions, and I'm totally going to! No need for me to spend that much money on something that I won't get any benefit from beyond December I don't feel too bad about it, just I wish I'd said something else I feel like my instructor with judge me based on those few comments and treat me differently the rest of the semester. I guess I'll just have to prove that my whole personality isn't based on that one opinion, yeah? I've been doing some more research on the foundation because I don't want to dismiss it wholesale - it was $42 and came highly recommended for people with oily skin. I'm going to do a review on it tomorrow morning. I def include the tools I used both times I've used it to show how hard it is to blend You didn't make me feel bad, you actually helped open my eyes a little more to the slave I've been making of myself! Instead of having all these things that do no one any good where they are, I should keep only those things that are useful or that I really really enjoy / want. I know several people that will be more than happy to take so many things off of my hands! I can't wait to get started!! I don't want to be a copy-cat, but do you mind sharing a picture of your desk area? You've seen mine... I think I have everything I'd ever need in any situation, and I know I don't need that much stuff.
One Parade : My Favorite Things for Back to School

I am in school and love all of those things, but I'll be graduating in May and know I will be missing these things soonish! I'm going to start early getting used to it, though, since I'm going to start tossing things I don't need. My current favs are large purses, casual boots, jeans, and baggy t-shirts! To me, you can look chic without having to spend a lot of money on things. The braid looks totally awesome and I only regret not having enough hair for that particular look. Accessories are def the way to go! I recently purchased a lovely large ring, dragonfly necklace, and a turquoise necklace/earring set! I'm also a fan of white watches, long earrings, and fedoras! I've got a lovely tan fedora that I've yet to wear that is embellished with feathers and beads. You should do more favorites posts because I'd personally love to know what other people are currently enjoying. We all enjoy some things that others haven't experienced or thought about, so yeah :3 My recent post First week of classes & regrets!

One Parade : How To Clean Out Your Closet

As you already know, I read this while waiting for class to start and couldn't wait to get home and get started! I found, though, that I couldn't start right away because there was so much to go through that I'd never finish it in one night. I'm hella inspired to trim down EVERYTHING I own because I own so much! I get rid of stuff only to replace it with something else! It's a vicious cycle that I am tired of repeating. It doesn't help me out at all, either, that when I move I not only have to take it all with me, but I have to find somewhere to put it then, as well. Too much, too much. I've seen the image of the closet somewhere else before, but I don't remember where. I remember at the time that I was inspired to get organized, but now I see how less can still be just as attractive as more. I'm now on a quest to exit the weekend with a lot less stuff to weigh me down! Wish me luck!
