Many years? Wow I would be so afraid to do something like that that will take years. Well, that's not true, there's stuff I do that takes years. But I have never convinced myself I could do a comic like that. I would want to go back and change stuff.

I'm excited about the art. Even if I didn't end up liking the characters and plot this comic would be like a good way of tricking myself into looking at pretty art, which I don't seek out as often as I could. And I'm sure I will like the characters and plot :P

A friend of mine, when in high school it came time for him to have one handle he used everywhere, ended up calling himself sdbc which just stood for some random names he had had on other sites.

I don't think that's how this is working. If these ghosts are memetic, that doesn't mean they exist outside anyose's head; it's more like the town festivals and traditions (including switchwater?) and local stories tend to combine to create certain ideas and sometimes visions or dreams, which in turn strengthen legends and traditions. The entities in these dreams and legends might be consistent enough that we can think of them as actual characters with thoughts, personalities and intentions, but only because the habits and behavior and legends tend to spread these personal characteristics to the copies of these entities in multiple peoples' minds.

I think it is because nobody would stay angrily hurried that long! They would drive over the sidewalk. And also, because this comic accomplishes an epic degree of clashing assumptions.
