I think you're spot on here. You can't help but fear for the guy. He's very likeable and clearly liked and repected by the players but any other manager at a top team like Chelsea would most likely get the sack too after a run like this. BUT I don't think sacking him now will allow any improvement by the end of this season. I think it would leave the squad a but disallusioned after such highs last year.
There was an interesting debate on ChelseaTV the other night as to whether John McEachran should be thrown into more games. It basically revolved around Chelsea lacking a defence splitting pass at times lately and maybe it being worth giving McEachran more starts or more realistically more minutes off the bench to try and create a goal.

people of this fine blog i'm starting a new fantasy type game for the last 10 gameweeks of the season. http://applebonkers.wordpress.com/2011/02/19/forw...
let me know if you want to have a go at it. all you'd have to do is email me the names of 3 strikers each week and i'll do the rest for you. if for whatever obscure privacy reason you don't want to email you can reply to the post with your 3 picks when the list comes out each week. if i get 50 people playing i'll cap the league at that to keep it manageable.

Steven Gerrard, Fa Cup 2006. His assist for Cisse was every bit as good as the 2 wonder goals.

sorry bit i feel needs to be added to my reply:
The first two of Ronaldo's three against Man Utd I saw as him finishing the move whereas all three of Rivaldo's goals I thought were more him making the goals out of nothing and really helping drag the team into the Champions League. Likewise Ronaldo'd hattrick against Valencia was a more emphatic display of pace, power and finishing in my opinion. I wont even pretend I can remember the all round performances of the three on those days as I'm still struggling to remeber whether I flushed in the work toilets or not this morning.

Has to be Andy Reid in the pre-match buffet for Blackpool last week. Staggering performance.
Best footballing performance for me was either Rivaldo in the mentioned game or Ronaldo against Valencia in his Barcelona season. I can't help but feel Ronaldo against Man Utd was made to seem more incredible due to Man Utd's own feelings of self grandeur. "Oh he destroyed us and we are brilliant so this must go down as the best performance since sliced bread".
Maybe my thought is swayed by his hattrcik against Man Utd coming at a time where we knew Ronaldo was special whereas his Valencia hattrick was sort of like him announcing himself to the world so it's more memorable?

i know fpl doesn't say the whole story but arshavin's points per minute this season is surprisingly good. 111 points in 1591 mins. over a season of just over 3000 mins that what would normally be considered fantastic scoring. i guess in a way it's a compliment that even when he's looking so poor he's still chipping in with lots of goals and assists.

ahh the great sol campbell of last season. well then if i've misunderstood and the real point of the team was to include players who were once considered brilliant but now hardly play then the team should include michael owen and gary neville and to a lesser extent scholes and giggs. but in a world where the process of ageing is common knowledge that would just be silly
