SO all this, but most especially the supposedly amazingly, wonderfully fun Gunship Battle of Boredom. My recent post Self Discipline: Mr. The Lightbringer Will See You Now

I think I've been in that raid. That was totally hysterical ("And that will do AoE damage which the healers have to *heal*"). I love how completely, completely serious Chas sounds. It was actually making me nervous that I didn't understand it.

What a damnably informative post. I feel betrayed. Now to set the 'Mission: Impossible' theme song to 'repeat'...
I roll a healing/healing spec myself, but my guess would be that hybrids didn't like the idea of announcing their MS at the beginning of the raid because (1) the want to hedge their bets, as you said, and (2) they don't want to come off as greedy jerks right at the start of every raid (I like to hide my greedy jerkitude until at least the first boss is down, personally). Running a raid with 10 hybrids, too, would mean you're actually trying to gear up 20 characters, not 10- a very disheartening thought indeed. Perhaps it's not a thought hybrids want to remind us of right at the enthusiastic raid start. My recent post Final Call! 11th Hour Challenge

Righteous Orbs : Confessions of a Stormwind Rentboy

I'm the same- people make me nauseated, so the scrolls help. And then it just becomes background noise to all the other dross I'm auctioning anyway (and the markup on some of those suckers is waaaaaay more than 10-13 gold, making it time/cost-effective to me). The tradeoff is, of course, that I don't get to hang around on Ironforge back alleys with my Diamond-Tipped Cane.

Righteous Orbs : Bring the Consumables, Not the Class

"Wait, you didn't bring your AP Drum Scrolls?! ARRRrrrrgh, Stan!!" Ha, but seriously Chas, I think that's a fantastico idea. Why not make everyone's buffs available for a price and slight utility nerf? That's the real way to bring the player, not the class. EDIT: Plus, it would have the added benefit of forcing everyone to learn a little bit more about which classes have which buffs, thus potentially increasing our understanding of other classes (the horror, the horror!). EDIT 2: But then you bastard Inscriptors would be making even *more* money than the rest of us!

Righteous Orbs : ignorance is sadly no hindrance to expression

Ah ha, ah ha, ah ha!! The West Wing is, as ever, spot on but is, as ever, misdirecting the argument for dramatic effect. Sure, you don't like the type of people who like guns (or foxhunting, or pwning Crossroads), but perhaps that's because liking those things makes you anti-social and worthy of scorn. Yes, we don't like them, but it's not like we don't like them for no reason other than our own internal emotional farts- we don't like them because they do antisocial crap! It's built into our DNA to not like them, it's incumbent upon us not to like them. We'd be in a sorry state indeed if we made no judgements against others for threatening, y'know, the peace of our community. Gun slingin' and fox huntin' and PvE server pwnin' are against the nature of a working society. Of course we don't like these wretches, that's what humans are supposed to do to people who threaten the peace and stability of a working homonid commune. Sam's only rebuttal should have been, "Damn straight I don't like gun toters; why would any human like people who threaten our society based on their own psychotic whims? Is your homo button set to unsapient?". So go, be bold, call them out on it! (And same as Pug above- I've had a few "'Submit Comment' -> Nothing happens here" moments as well).

Righteous Orbs : Where are you going with your fetlocks blowing in the wind?

"But the most honorable exercise in my opinion, and that beseemeth the estate of every noble person, is to ride surely and clean, on a great horse and a rough, which undoubtedly . . . importeth a majesty and dread to inferior persons, beholding him above the common course of other men, daunting a fierce and cruel beast." Funny, that's the precise description you get when you click on the new purchasable mount in-store link.
