I need to read this too and I'm so glad that you liked it. I find it difficult to hold on and sustain my enthusiasm for a book after I read bad reviews of it or even if I see it given 2 stars. So yes, definitely looking forward to this one.
I seriously want a hard copy of Outcast especially since my Kindle just went kaput. Ahhhh. I just may splurge soon.
It feels as if they want to curb discourse on any problematic elements in a novel. Especially with the September Girls brouhaha. Stephanie brought up some valid concerns about the portrayal of certain characters and the misogynistic attitudes rampant in the novel and what, it's a bad review? Coming from an academic background, I'm really baffled why these authors seem to think that a bad review automatically implies some kind of negativity toward the author. As for the fame? Pffftttt. You bring up very valid points and you know what, I don't think incidents like these should dissuade any reviewer from going forth and talking about what they want to regarding a book. Of course there are some reviewers who do get personal but the vast majority don't. Well said, Eden.
I do hope you get to read this soon, Eden. I want to know what you think of it!
Good luck with classes! And exams and all those other ridiculous school things. Enjoy them!
There may be a need for some delicacy when white authors include people of colour in their books because there's the whole issue of appropriation and representation present. But I think this will be be an interesting experiment of sorts. You are good job, Eden! :D
One of these days, I want to sit down and list all the space ship books. I have read very few of them but I wonder how different one spaceship book can be from another.
I am really intrigued by the glimpse of the new characters we see in the end. Those two boys (or more? I'm not sure, it has been a while) present interesting possibilities. I love the headteacher portion as well - she has absolutely no idea what's happening in her school!
