Those kids would have killed themselves over something just as trivial, It pisses me off, its a hate crime to speak out against gay people, and black people, etc. they all scream they just want to be equal, well to them equal doesn't mean Equal it means special... there is no law against bullying fat kids into isolation, and making them social retards, and driving them further down the road of depression and despair, but you don't see them tossing themselves off bridges. As stubborn and Old School as it may sound, I feel like new, less mainstream bands need to learn to market themselves successfully, it was this DIY ethic that spawned the genre, and it seems that the emphasis on making money and being noticed(successful) has overrun the original goal of just making GREAT music. Any band or musician can become popular, regardless of level of talent, as long as slick and swarthy marketing techniques are used. Myself being a musician, would much rather be recognized for my musical ability, my drive, and devotion to the love of my art.
