I think Ron Jeremy already starred in that one, actually.

Oh lord... I just got Marginalised.

Perhaps you should Re-Read my initial statement, before assuming this is all about the VICTIMS.

'An effective policy should be designed to address the widespread nature of the problem. It should not be a policy that mirrors, or is designed to appease, a narrow political agenda. Policies that single out certain characteristics for special protections are counterproductive. They put the focus on the wrong place —on the characteristics of the victim— rather than where the focus should be, on the wrong actions of the bullies. Designating categories creates a system ripe for reverse discrimination, sending the message that certain characteristics are more worthy of protection than others. Instead of bringing more peace and unity, this can politicize the environment and introduce divisiveness among different groups of people, all effected by the bullies. '

My problem is with the sudden fixation of the media, and Celebrity(especially Gay Celebrities). They are putting all this emphasis on these Teens who have commited suicide, its taking the focus off what is really important, and that is dealing with the problem as a whole.

Good Try though. ;)

Last I checked Epidemic is not only reserved for Communicable Diseases.

Definition of EPIDEMIC adj.

1: affecting or tending to affect a disproportionately large number of individuals within a population, community, or region at the same time <typhoid was epidemic>

2 a : excessively prevalent
b : contagious 4 <epidemic laughter>

3 : of, relating to, or constituting an epidemic <the practice had reached epidemic proportions>

Thanks for playing.

Bullying is an epidemic, it happens everywhere, all the time, to alot of people.

My point is simple. You either protect Everyone or no one. I take umbrage with people pandering to the specific topic of 'Gay Teen Bullying' I feel as if it being treated like something more important than the rest of the problem. We need to focus on the actual problem, which is general intolerance for anything different from 'Normal'

If it were easy for fat kids to just talk to people there would be less instances of uncontrolled eating disorders and the such, An yes parents are aware usually, and in my case I was made to feel inferior by my mother as well, chastised for needing the 'husky' size, while INSIDE the store, Called fat and ugly, told no one would ever want to be with me as long as I look this way, I clearly remember at 7 years of age having my mother say to me 'I hope you get really sick one of these days and have to be on a liquid diet in the hospital, then maybe you will be skinny, like a normal kid' These things have stuck with me all my life. Sometimes parents are the bullies too, a gross piece of social conditioning, HATE all that is different. It really is pretty sad.

I'm glad that I could put that out there without being the target of further ridicule, I honestly understand what it feels like to be on the wrong end of it. It's great to hear that people are waking up to this, I was in no way pointing any of this directly at anyone in particular, but as a blanket statement (which we all know is also a bad idea).

I rather enjoyed your post, It made me think, It made me feel enough emotion to rant about these things that are so prevalent in every teens life. It helped me to remember how I came to be Who I am today.

I happen to think this huge public outcry is ridiculous, like gay teens are the only ones who get bullied? I'm sorry but the old stand by of 'oh they don't have anyone to turn to' that holds no water either, everyone who gets bullied feels alone, its all drama, big GAY drama..I'm sorry if I seem insensitive. However I spent my entire childhood and still to this day get things said to me, and treated like less of a person. Yeah, I'm FAT. Here is the thing, Statistics indicate that race, ethnicity issues, and even opposite-sex harassment actually account for more bullying problems, than do homosexual-related issues. Physical appearance—or the general concept of appearing different than one’s peers—is actually the most commonly reported reason for why victims are targeted. Those kids would have killed themselves over something just as trivial, It pisses me off, its a hate crime to speak out against gay people, and black people, etc. they all scream they just want to be equal, well to them equal doesn't mean Equal it means special... there is no law against bullying fat kids into isolation, and making them social retards, and driving them further down the road of depression and despair, but you don't see them tossing themselves off bridges. Here it is in Black and White. My issue is this: EVERY TEEN who has ANYTHING different about them gets bullied. Black, yellow, smart, dumb, glasses, fat, skinny, gay, jock, stoner Etc. WHY, is it all of a sudden an epidemic because some Overly dramatic gay kids couldn't handle being ridiculed and off themselves? No one made videos to tell me everything would be ok MY ENTIRE childhood of being fat, and tormented. An effective policy should be designed to address the widespread nature of the problem.

I am here to voice my opinion, as coarse and likely unpopular as it may be. These are all facts, so the next time you snicker, or use ANY language that denotes another human as less than you, or is just plain insulting, remember how the 'Fags' feel when something within their earshot is 'So effin Gay'. It's ALL OR NOTHING, until everyone is safe from ridicule, stifle these self important outcries

"And the angel of the lord came unto me, snatching me up from my place of slumber. And took me on high, and higher still until we moved to the spaces betwixt the air itself. And he brought me into a vast farmlands of our own midwest. And as we descended, cries of impending doom rose from the soil. One thousand, nay a million voices full of fear. And terror possesed me then. And I begged, "Angel of the Lord, what are these tortured screams?" And the angel said unto me, "These are the cries of the carrots, the cries of the carrots! You see, Reverend Maynard, tomorrow is harvest day and to them it is the holocaust." And I sprang from my slumber drenched in sweat like the tears of one million terrified brothers and roared, "Hear me now, I have seen the light! They have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul! Damn you! Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers!" Can I get an amen? Can I get a hallelujah? Thank you Jesus." - T00L

I am fully impressed with this post, it's great to read more every month people are finally concerning themselves with the basic human right of being able to put whatever we like into our bodies, and how all around us people are trying to control that. I will forever be a member of PETA - People Eating Tasty Animals. Salad is what food eats.
I will be right there running veggies when the day comes. I have a killer Guacamole formula!
