Thank goodness so many people did the right thing. Too bad some didn't. The problem may be that the Metro employees who didn't take proper action sincerely thought they had no authority. But, in this situation, one grabs the authority. The train could (should) have been halted. Medical issues halt trains. And I am not trying to be "stupid" but Metro trains often halt themselves.

The glass is more than half full in this event.

Add to number 3 - (orginial below) - lack of clear, precise information reguarding situation and estimated time of return to service.

WMATA passengers shall not be held against their will in unbearable conditions on a stalled train. Unbearable conditions include, but are not limited to, excessive heat, excessive cold, lack of air circulation, or hazardous materials.

JimS - agreed. Imagine passengers stuck inside the station and an emergency (fire, shooter, stampede due to rumor, etc). I think if the station is not open METRO cars should not stop at that station to discharge passengers. Extreme? Maybe, but prudent. Bottom line: UNBELIEVABLE.
