Anyone have a spare kid I can borrow? I'd love a free course on the latest iMovie myself. :)

Happy 1 year! The Loop quickly hit the top three sites I visit every day when it came on the scene. Looking forward to more great stuff from the whole crew!

I think I'll hold off loading it until I hear what happens to Click2Flash. If Click2Flash becomes a plugin and then also works on the Windows version of Safari -- bonus!

I read sites like this that read those articles for me so I don't have to. :)

They are few and far between. However, I think there are more crappy movies made from video games. Of course, that could change if Uwe Boll stopped assaulting the cinema.

I know the exclusivity now seems a bit beyond the point, but I seem to remember the whole reason Apple went with AT&T in the first place was because they were the only ones willing to work together to put the backend services in place so the iPhone would have visual voicemail, push notices, and other things right out of the door at first launch. So they made a 5 yr deal and they get to stick to it, whether people like or or not -- unless we want Apple to just chuck a contract and risk another lawsuit, which would this time be fully justified.

Holy cow! You should so write that up as a patent and submit it to see how far it gets through the USPO! If the fees weren't so high, it'd be worth it. Hell, if we can find an independently wealthy smartass like us, maybe it would be worth it to him or her, :)

A quick Google search shows the story is on a few tech blogs, mostly nothing I recognize -- doesn't mean they don't have a sizable readership, though. Daily Tech and Gizmodo come up. Several are running the headline that Google blames the apps and app developers (as is mentioned in this story by quoting Schmidt on apps that aren't smart about battery life). I haven't read them to see if they mention Apple gets around this by heavily controlling its multitasking rather than opening it willy-nilly and thus getting tons of battery life.

I don't see the article on CNet yet, nor on news sites like CNN or BBC...

When you don't have an argument, appeal to emotional abstracts like "freedom" and the like. It's worked for politicians for years. Guess it might work for Adobe, too.

Flash won't be way ahead of it if Adobe don't get their act together and fix its problems, which range from CPU hogging to not even working on any mobile device yet.

As for redirecting people to a less interactive website, I hope they can still get to all the information on the site. In fact, I would personally prefer such a site. Maybe I'm old school, but the Web is about the information, not the fact that you can wrap the information in blinking stars and make funny noises while I try to access and read it. Used to be high and low bandwidth choices for sites, and I always chose the low bandwidth ones so I could get to what I wanted faster. Not as much an option anymore, and that is sad, really.

I still have to design my sites so they work with IE 6, much as I hate it and despite it's only about 10% of browsers now, because one lost customer or one association member who can't access info means lost money. Limiting income must be okay for some, though...
