It was fall 1984. Ronnie Reagan got every submarine that wasn't in drydock with hull cuts underway in 24 or was it 48 hours. Word pierside was that he was sending Gorbachev a message.

I was TDY to the mk48 shop, they turned all the exercise torps into warshots to give to the boats on the water front.

I have a soft spot for Ronnie. I can still recall the pay raise we got.
