asymco : Mobile device OS upgrades: How hard can it be?

BlackBerry appears to have updated OSes quite regularly. Carriers do their testing and do an official release. The OS is then available on BlackBerry.com for the user to download. The user connects to BB Desktop and the phone gets updated with the new OS. BlackBerry also have regular OS "leaks", which are OSes released by BlackBerry (they carry RIM's digital signature countersigned by Verisign) but not yet released by Carriers.

9 to 5 Mac | Apple Intelligence : Seven months after being announced, RIM's PlayBook gets official, runs Android apps

Price matching to a 10 inch tablet isn't good enough when you're only offering a 7 inch tablet. C'mon, RIM!

With an election called in March of 2011, it looks like Bill C-32 will die and copyright reform will fall to the next Parliament to handle.

I wonder if Corning can substitute its Gorilla Glass (same increased thinness and flexibility)

Could it be that Apple is concentrating on the countries that they highlighted (remember the slide after this one had only a few of the listed countries highlighted) because of possible shortage of parts (Dragontrail glass I would imagine) due to earthquake damage at Asahi Glass' Japanese factories?

asymco : On Feeds and Speeds

The GPU performance increase means two things to me: 1) the iPad 1 launched featuring iWork, meaning Apple intended one of the primary selling points (but not the only selling point) for it is productivity with some gaming on the side; 2) the iPad 2 is now more a "fun" device, a gaming platform, and productivity is no longer the _primary_ selling point.
