Dynamic range was the killer for me with the older sensors, even in faces in sunshine, the blown areas giving that greeny/pink halo before burning into bleached white, dynamic range is way greater with the K5, for general photography the modern sensors are far better, for studio work ( limited DR situations) the older sensors had nice rendering of skin tones.

Pentax SR is Not Yet Conforming to the New CIPA Standard for Image Stabilization Performance.
I've just read a test (SLR camera) on a Nikon 80-400, where the testers say that they found at 400mm the IS was almost non-existent or unreliable,I didn't see any claim by Nikon to that effect!
All my lens are stabilized with SR! I'm hardly likely to buy new stabilized Nikon lenses and Body just because of some CIPA rating, Really what non-sense!

I recently purchased an FA* 300 F4.5 Pentax lens S/H,while there, the guy showed me his M42 Optic 560mm F7.1 telescope lens,this simple construction couplet lens costs 470 euros + adapters, the guy invited me to take a few shots with my K5 mounted on it, the results were frankly amazingly sharp with great bokeh,rack and pinion focusing with a ten to one reduction gear. So for 500-600 euros you get a very sharp lens of similar dimensions as the Pentax, minus side, no AF,fixed aperture, but you keep 6,000 euros in your pocket.

OK, got it! Yeah, Panasonic has a new system that looks great, it means another stop less noise; We haven't seen the demise of APSc by a long way, I still think ultimately, high technological improvements 5% here 2% there,every two years can only reinforce the APSc sized sensor,the K5IIs can now do 20"X 16s, a few years from now that will be greater,who needs more than that?

I did say APSc,but anyway I see your point, we will see (one day) what the Pentax FF will be like, however, have you seen the comparison between the K5IIs and the Canon 5D MkIII, on photouniverse? makes for interesting watching.
