Due to him having done this for quite a long while (both in this new format and the old format), as well as the fact that these new episodes are likely written differently since he doesn't need to find fitting scenes from the show, it's no surprise that the humour has changed.

When it comes down to unicorns being overpowered, I always think back to a statement Spike made on the first episode Trixie appeared in (I've never bothered memorizing the names of episodes, and I don't feel like looking it up).

Spike said that unlike most ponies who are only capable of mastering one spell (presumably one relating to their cutiemark), Twilight was able to master all types of spells.

Nuff said.

I remember, it was the Giggle at the Ghosty song that converted me.
You see, I watched part 1, but didn't reckon much to it. It was funny at the beginning when Twilight was using big fancy words that Spike didn't understand, but that was about it.
Still, it was a two parter, so I had to watch part two. And then Pinkie started singing that song. Naturally I face-palmed, but to my surprise, all of the other ponies seemed to be doing the same thing. What converted me was when Rainbow Dash said "She isn't?" and Rarity responded with "She is." It seemed as though all of the ponies agreed with me. And it was THAT that converted me.
Surprisingly enough, now I look forward to all of the pony songs. :)

And to think. I was first pointed to My Little Pony, by some of the most hardcore zombie fans I've ever met (I had never heard of it until then). And by that, I mean it was a forum where people argued about realism regarding zombies. Which is in of itself utterly stupid. I was mostly there to annoy those few users that were incredibly easy to annoy.
I just wish that forum was still there. :(

Reading through the comments, it almost seems as though an easy way to fix the problem, is to stop spotlighting the typical genres. You know, Electronica or Dubstep. Clearly, people have just had enough of how much those particular genres have become over-saturated, and hate having to wade through pages of those types of music to find something different and unique, like Rap or Metal.

So in other words, start spotlighting genres which use actual instruments..

Honestly, I agree with all of your points.

Obviously, (like everyone else) I just lumped her in that category without actually realizing that she wasn't justified in her actions, unlike the characters I was comparing her to. So thanks for that.

And yes, if they did do a origins episode, I can definitely see Celestial being blamed for Luna's jealousy.

But yeah, I agree with you. It's terrible writing.
I think that I only like the (fake) idea of Luna, and not the actual character herself. Well except for the comic form of her, but that's a completely different character to the one on the show, so it's a moot point.

G3 only ever spawned three good things. Ponies in socks, Minty, and that song (original or any covers).

Everything else though is enough to make my skin crawl as well.

I think what you meant to say was the emo bullcrap ALL fandoms are so fond of.

After all, I can name at least thirteen similar characters from other franchises. THIRTEEN!!!
People just love the down trodden (black sheep) sibling trope. And unfortunately, so do I. But at least I recognize it for what it is (so it's more of a guilty pleasure for me).
