I have been more out about my atheism at past jobs, it depends on who I work with. Here in Utah, most people are asked if they are "members" and everyone knows that means members of the LDS religion. I have never lied. And if asked I will always state what I am. At my current job, I work for the state government. Because my job requires me to have access to private personal health information and I need to report if I know someone so they can block access to any of my friends, family or acquaintances accounts, when I started I had to disclose any organizations I volunteer for, and since I volunteer for the local atheist group sometimes, I disclosed it, so my boss, my lead and the one coworker who I was filling out paperwork with all know. None of them have seemed to care.

Actually my minor in college was sociology specifically women's studies, so I'm pretty well acquainted with male privilege in our society. My point is some women choose to be angry with men simply because of the inequities within our society. Personally, I prefer to be more angry with religion than with men. It's archaic religious teachings that led us to where we are. Also, I never said that "YOU shouldn't be offended at that". I really don't give a shit what people get offended at. If people don't like what I have to say they are free to not listen to me or read my blog. I just don't understand the logic in going off on someone who makes a stupid (potentially sexist) remark or joke or off-handed comment. I don't find it productive. I don't think it moves the conversation forward. I think men and women can compliment each other...even if that means making a man who has said something off handed examine his stupidity by saying something just as ridiculous back at him. I used to work with a salesman at a car dealership that used to call all of the women in our office "hon". So many of them would get angry and mad at him and tell him to stop over and over. I didn't think he meant anything degrading by it, so the few times he called me "hon" I called him "sugar lips" back. It didn't take long for the hons to stop. The others in my office asked me how I managed it. I told them "I don't get mad, I get even". Looking back at Vjack's links I am offended... I wasn't listed as a sexy female atheist...oh wait, I'm not sexy... never mind. Vjack I find your posts are pretty consistently gender neutral. However I do read some male blogs that are more male gender obvious. I enjoy those perspectives too, as much as I enjoy sexy female blogs that talk about things from a sexy female perspective. I myself have a pretty female oriented blog sometimes. Hey, maybe I'll even start a hottie male blogger of the week feature. I just don't feel that makes me any less intelligent or respectable. Neither should it make me less of a feminist if I show a lot of cleavage sometimes. If you want an idea of how to attract more female readers I'll be glad to let you have the "hottie male blogger of the week" feature. :) Although, you would probably be better at picking a "hottie female blogger of the week" and leaving the hottie males up to me. :-D My recent post HOW NICE A SYMPATHY CARD
