I am one of those who first makes a beeline to the dessert counter at any buffet be it a wedding or a star restaurant that boasts of a large variety of desserts. If it is promising enough, I just stop with starters and then get down to real eating -- the desserts. I can so understand your feeling cheated by great looking stuff that taste like nothing they promise to be. BTW, I follow the Tambrahm custom of eating the sweet dish before rounding off a meal, unless the sweet dish is my whole meal!!
Oh I am veteran at it, Kala. Never made it to any list, not picked by any 'in' website to feature my post, nor, nor....But you have miles to go and who knows you will be at the top of some fundoo list this year. Don't forget to send some peda when you do. I just can't have enough of peda, the Dharwad variety, especially. Slurp!
I do like the way you demand that the man just sit the way and doodles away, as you have seen him do! What entitlement is that, I ask you? Doesn't a body have a life, a will, likes and dislikes than to just fulfill your expectation, eh? *eye roll*
So what would I be? Definitely not Yo Mami. So does that make me a mami? Except that mama is neither Yo, nor mama. We are stuck in a limbo, or what? :)
Ha! Now that I have discovered Nina's world, I will keep popping up for a good laugh when I am down in the dumps. Great series, Kala K.
One of the most important things about growing plants in flats is to get the right ones (meaning those that are natural to the climate and place) from a good nursery. Having said that, I have had several regular species give up on me over the last year when I finally had a small window garden. Tulsi is the only plant that continues growing well. Wonder if it has something to do with the fact that I offer jal to her after puja!
On another note, I am loving your writing more and more Kala K :) (and you know what the K stands for, don't you? <3)
Oh Kala! This was hilarious but so full of truth. Watch your back though. But then you can always count on me. I have your back, dear :) (And that is my contribution to the back story!
I belong to the earlier generation and if I beging reminiscing it would drive you all nuts. Perhaps you could read my posts under Nostalgia and Zephyr Times, instead :) How is that for plugging, eh?
Wish you and yours a very Happy 2017, Kala!
Sometimes it is best not to know about certain things. It must have been so painful to hold that power. Very good story.
We indeed have to go through terrible labour pains to be able to hold freedom in our hands and yes, we are in it together. And that makes it so much more worth it and beautiful.
