And yet... and yet...

I can't be mad at her. Mostly because I think I still believe in all those lies, and am just a late late late bloomer. My time is coming!

Off to recite some poetry to myself and the trees.

Fantastic! I read GE out loud to a random group of my students (middle & high school) this past year, and they looooved the scenes at Miss Havisham's house. Whereas they had trouble understanding much of what happened in the rest of the book (we stopped a lot to review), Miss Havisham - her ghostly witchiness, her wrath - seemed to make perfect sense to them. She fit into a category they already had in their heads. (The feminist in me now wants to call them all and dissect that category, but alas.)

Thanks for a deep, well-researched piece.

You are not crazy, natch.

I am a sports person, and love a good celebration parade, but people get crazy, and when there's that many of them the chances of craziness go up like wildfire. You are you, be happy for your team (or city or whatever) and celebrate from home. You'll surely not be the only one.

I have actually been waiting to find out (because my brain works in mysterious ways; I also forgot to pack my lunch), so I'm both glad to hear a call is coming and also shaking my fist that it hasn't happened yet. :)

omg that would not work for me ever. My school (my amazing workplace that I love and please all come visit etc) is built on community and kindness; we start and end every day in a full-school (50 kids, plus 10 staff) appreciation circle. Like, anyone can say anything. We have teenage boys appreciating each other, or their families. We have middle school girls appreciating their math classes, or their horses. It's really... oh it's so amazing.

Point is, I'm here for the appreciation mush emails. :)

All I really wanted from this was all the scenes where Pip is visiting Wemmick out in his castle house. I think they eat there. Who cares! It's delightful! *totters off to reread them now and likely be late for work*

When I was first out of college and waiting desperately to hear about what I was sure was my dream job (oh silly me), my dad told me, "It's never as important for them as it is for you." I tell myself that every time I'm job hunting now; when they say tomorrow and tomorrow passes...well, they got busy with something else, and they are not - like I am - just watching the clock until they can give me a job.

Best of luck on the gig!

You link just took me back to the link roundup. Which, if links have to go somewhere, it's not a bad place to be, but I want to see this Fatal Floor!

YES! Why do people think that this weird bubbly semi-flavored water is delicious? Why taunt me thusly with cans all lined up at the school lunch and not a single one of them as the requisite amount of sugar? I mean, honestly.

I haven't watched any of this season (or the last one? what's wrong with me?) but I'm always on board to talk about Samira Wiley because she's super talented and, let's not waste breath, SO HOT OMG *faints*
