How about "Laughing Under the Clouds" (Donten Ni Wararu)? It's short, clocking in at only 12 episodes, but it's got an amazing plot, art style, and music. That and not many people have heard of it before, so this would be a good chance to introduce people to an anime gem.

So, I actually read the synopsis a while back, but then I watched the show anyway. The majority of the first episode, I'm just sitting there thinking "Okay... Is this gonna pick up?" But then... IT DID. OH, IT DID. Definitely watching more of this because I love characters with delusions.

SOUL EATER. Best anime ever, in my humble opinion. I seem to be one of the only people in the fandom that favors the anime over the manga, though. Don't get me wrong; if they make a remake based off the manga, I'll watch the heck out of it. But I'll still prefer the original.

Since Soul Eater's the header, how about "Resonance" by T.M. Revolution? It's really upbeat and gets me moving.
