Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : #39. Giving expert advice on things we've never experienced.

It's about receiving your revelation and instruction from God. Just because something you said sounds good or because you think you have a profound "revelation", doesn't mean go ahead and write the book. Check with God first, because you could be producing something stunts the growth of other believers as opposed to enhancing their walk and elaborating on what the Holy Spirit is already ministering to them or has prepared a way for them to receive.

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : #38 Joel Osteen

I am not going to go to Joel Olsteen to learn about warfare, and I am not going to go to John Hagee to hear a message on Being Single and Getting Married. Each minister has a different call and those called to Joel Olsteen will go to him. It's like Paul said in the Bible, paraphrased, some preach with good intentions, some with bad -- But has long has the preach Jesus, it's all good. Who are you to judge? It's not about what you see, it's about the fruit of what you see. What is His lifestyle like? If you don't know shut your mouth and don't speak against who God has anointed. You weren't their when He was called to preach before God's people, so, let's make like David and do His anointed "no harm" (Like when David didn't kill Saul, because he was still anointed as King). Get right, church.

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : #38 Joel Osteen

Every church, pastor, etc. has an audience he/she is speaking too.... Rod Parsley's audience is not Joel Olsteen's audience; Joel Olsteen's audience isn't John Hagee's; John Hagee's isn't Jesse Duplantis' and Jesse's isn't Creflo Dollar's. People only trip off of Joel because he has a joyous message. People coming to Christ for the first time, used to hearing doom and gloom crap from preacher's who don't live "the Joy of the Lord", enjoy listening to Joel Olsteen.

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : #32. Lasers instead of stained glass.

That is a little horrible, though. To come in during the 'concert' part. But it isn't the fault of the worship team or even the person, it's just our perception of things. If I walked into a room and saw a man on top of a woman, I wouldn't automatically think "Oh, he is helping her to not choke".

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : #30. The end of the Harry Potter series.

I know right! What really matters? The magic is part of someone's imagination and that is where it tends to stop -- most times --, but the pornographic empire grows daily and plants seeds of perversion that seems to be in everyone's biography. FOCUS.
