http://robbingamerica.blogspot.com/ : Leading from Behind . . . The Funeral Processions in Syria.

Is your concern with Syria strategic, humanitarian, or both? And let me pose the abstract question, do both goals need to be on the line to justify action?

So far they haven't even reached enrichment capacities they're allowed under the non-proliferation treaty to which they are a party. As a secondary consideration, consider that North Korea has nukes, and China has its back. Yet South Korea still stands. Mind you, JG, these are thorny issues, and I make no bones about that. I'm not naive, but I think all of these issues merit serious discussion, especially when so many lives are on the line - - unfortunately, literally.

The problem is in your first statement. Iran doesn't even have 5% uranium enrichment yet for producing nuclear energy. They're nowhere close to a nuclear-grade uranium or a system for launching it.

http://robbingamerica.blogspot.com/ : Let's all Get On Cue For Free Money.

Market-driven interest rates are vital to a stable economy. Helicopter Ben isn't doing us any favors, that's for sure. Thank you George W. Bush, for giving us this guy. Hot-head and cry-baby? I've had plenty of criticism of Obama Lite (who will nominate someone to the Fed as Bernanke-like as possible), but I've never resorted to calling you or anyone else names for making what I predict (yes, predict), will be a colossal disaster if the guy from Massachusetts wins. I'm rather surprised you resorted to that sort of tone.

Ron Paul has never said that "Iran means well," but that's a subject for another day. I agree with his plan to expand work visas for skilled workers, but his "build the fence" plan that is so popular with confused conservatives is obnoxious. Romney fails to understand that the illegal immigration problem is an economic issue more than a border security issue. It is a black market in labor, and a true believer in free market economics would recognize the root problem, and take steps to alleviate the market failure by pursuing more readily available work visas for unskilled workers. I'm no fan of George W Bush, but even he landed on the right side of this issue. Romney also fails to grasp that the border problem is 2 separate problems, not just one. One is the black market for labor, and the other is the black market for drugs. Lacking a core understanding of the nature of the problem(s), Romneys immigration policies are destinmed to fail.

Ludwig von Mises Institute : Monopoly Dentistry - James E. Miller - Mises Daily

James: although the comment section has focused on homeopathic dentistry, your larger point is well taken. The Institute for Justice's Economic Liberty practice is fighting unjust and unnecessary licensing practices from casket makers to hair braiders. Licensing restrictions are cartelism, period. Your article is just one case study.

And when Ron Paul's supporters, who you have so consistently belittled, move to Gary Johnson's camp, the GOP nomiee, whomever it might be, will fall to third pace in the presidential race. Anybody but Obama? That path leads through the LP this year!

The Country Thinker : Memorial Day Reflection: What is the Definition of War?

It came to my attention too late to post on it today, but I'm going to do some follow up research and post on it later. Perhaps Thursday, and use it as an example of law and politics affecting economic decisions. Interestingly, this fall I will be giving a talk to a Business Law class at Wisconsin-Stout (where my brother teaches) on stagategic litigationin the business world.

I agree, but that isn't the case presently. We have no declaration of war against Libya, yer we are doing air strikes. apparently that isn't war any more. I don't have a problem with international law to the extent that individuals agree to a common set of rules. Rule of law is critical for individual freedom as long as the rule itself doesn't impinge on freedom.
