Perhaps this is more than just "meaning well". This is squarely in OCD territory and more likely to piss people off over making a real difference. Has her behaviour changed recycling practices in the past (obviously not or she wouldn't keep doing it). ....and perhaps that needs to be said.

Well said. I have BF a 2.5 yo in public (that was 5.5 years ago now) and copped those stares, but then, I was a bit of a BF advocate so I did it anyway. It was never about what other people "should" do though .... just what I had the *right* to do.
It really is all about choice, and in the long run, there is no one, single, perfect, right, 100% correct way to raise a child. If there was I suspect we'd all be screwed.

Oh yes please! You have found my weakness - I love a good handbag that can fit heaps of Very Important Stuff in it. Pink is obviously the greatest colour known, flowers rock my world and so the Magnolia Nova is my favourite.

I really hate that there are people out there who create false drama to drive blog traffic. That is so sick and sad and I want to smack them in the face with a chair.

... but then again, I can usually pick the BS because the 'drama' really doesn't ring true and I tune out pretty quickly....

I am so thankful to work at a school with a brilliant special needs program that makes HUGE differences if kids are caught early enough. You can notice a huge difference in their behaviour and their learning when they get intervention from our fabulous Spec. Ed. teachers).

Why yes, lets abolish Medicare while we are at it. For goodness sake, these people who keep on eating / smoking / driving / speeding/ walking/ talking / breathing/ smiling/ sleeping/ living can't expect to stay healthy forever! Why make it the government's problem when they are old and sick or injured? (end sarcastic voice)
Seriously Wendy? Have you thought this through?
...and by the way how bloody dare you question someone's choice to have 4 children when the damn government almost demanded we have at least 3 in the first place. ("One for Mum, One for Dad and One for the Country" ring any bells with you??)

I know what you mean and I *am* a mother. I find that I am VERY selective about who I socialise with within the mother-groups (especially now that I am a widow). I have a self-administered 'special test section' where potential parenting-group participants must pass my own personal standards for intelligence, personality and sense-of-humour. It helps me avoid the tedious people more effectively.

Half term sounds ideal. We're 5 weeks into a 10 week term and both my kids and the kids in my class at school are tired. and cranky. and so am I.
We probably don't need a whole week though - but a long weekend wouldn't go astray ....

Firstly, 3 stone is more like 18 kgs - don't sell yourself short - that's a fantastic effort :)
Are ou doing the walk next year? I'm currently not im much of a position to sponsor anyone else (still have to find some money for a headstone for my husband - there's another $1200 that will have to go ) ... but it's such a great cause that I can try sometime in the future. Good luck and may your leg muscles forgive you!
