Don't forget, he's had plenty of help. Not all of which was dems. Or recent. He's occupying a nest feathered by 3 previous administrations.

...Continuation

During the 2008 campaign, an investigation was launched to see if the Palin administration had abused power to pressure a commissioner to fire a state trooper who once was married to Governor Palin's sister. A legislative investigation was launched, led by Democratic legislator Kim Elton, who partisanly claimed prior to the findings that it had the potential to be an "October surprise". The legislative investigation ruled against the governor. However, the personnel board, which was appointed by Governor Murkowski--no political friend of Governor Palin--found that Governor Palin did nothing wrong. Following Barack Obama's election, Kim Elton was given a cushy job in the new President's Interior Department. Upon returning from the 2008 campaign trail, a character assassination was launched against Governor Palin. More than two dozen frivolous ethics complaints were launched at Governor Palin in the months following her return. Many of these were from serial offenders intending to be a stumbling block to the Governor. Others were levied by Alaskan Democratic bloggers and others on the Alaskan Left. While Governor Palin was able to sign another prudent budget, move forward on the gas pipeline, and vetoed much of the President's stimulus package dollars, her administration was heavily stymied by dealing with these ridiculous complaints. It cost the state nearly two million dollars and countless hours of staff time to deal with these, and also left the Palin family with nearly half a million dollars in legal fees to fight these complaints. Not one to want to get in the way of the progress of the state, nor waste state money, Governor Palin stepped aside from office. It wasn't the power of the governorship she wanted to cling to. She wanted to do what was best for the state, so she handed the reins to now Governor Parnell-- a man who largely shares the same vision and approach as she does, but would not be a target for the Left. Thus, Alaska was better served, not because she no longer was governor herself, but because the bullseye was removed from the executive office in Alaska.

Since stepping aside from office in July of 2009, a lot has happened as a byproduct to a less stymied Alaska governor's office. She has been able to speak out on the issues, support candidates throughout the country, and travel to speak throughout the world. Sarah Palin has taken a stand on every major political issue often, doing so with great prescience and foresight. She saw the rationing effects of bureaucratic government panels--death panels-- involved in healthcare long before anyone else did. She questioned the Fed's decision to engage in a second round of quantitative easing warning that it would cause inflation and higher energy prices, which it has. She has spoken out on a variety of foreign policy issues as well from Iran's nuclear proliferation and lack of support for Democracy to concerns about the START nuclear treaty with Russia to a strong stance with Israel and warning of the threat of an Egypt controlled by the Muslim brotherhood. She has also been able to support and campaign for several members of Congress and the Senate and several Governors. Her endorsements brought the first women governors into office in three states and helped usher in the most pro-life Congress i history. Since stepping aside from office, she has given speeches to business leaders in Hong Kong and India, spoken to various trade shows, pro life events, and tea parties. She has traveled to Israel and met with Prime Minister Netanyahu and traveled to Haiti to do some humanitarian work with Samaritan's Purse.
And Michelle Bachmann did what?

Some stuff many don't seem to know;
Sarah Palin has had a stellar political career over the past twenty years. She served two terms on the Wasilla city council before running for and winning two terms as the city's mayor where she cut property and business inventory taxes while building infrastructure to bring more business and jobs to Wasilla. She later would spend two years as an oil and gas commissioner before resigning in protest when a fellow commissioner was involved in unethical behavior. Following her resignation, this individual, who was also the head of the state GOP, was slapped with the largest ethics fine in state history.

She set out to rid Alaska of its corruption immediately upon entering office just as she had done as an oil and gas commissioner. In her first year and a half prior to being chosen as John McCain's running mate, she passed bipartisan ethics reform, restructured the state's oil tax structure, and set in motion North America's largest private sector infrastructure project--a natural gas pipeline. Her tenure was marked by transparency and an anti-corruption focus. She put the state checkbook online so that her constituents could see how state monies were being spent, sold the governor's personal jet, and ensured her legislative proposal were made available for public consumption--including her two major pieces of energy legislation.During her tenure as Governor, Sarah Palin took on Big Oil and revamped the Alaskan oil tax structure by reforming the previous administration’s tax system. Her predecessor’s tax plan was so heavily tainted by corruption that it resulted in the prosecution of several Alaskan politicians and oil company personnel. Governor Palin’s oil tax plan rid the state of the tainted system. Her tax plan was passed in a transparent manner, was more in line with their state constitution, and provided incentives for oil companies to increase development and exploration. Her administration set in motion--AGIA--the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act, which is a project that would bring natural gas from Alaska's North Slope through Canada to the Lower 48. For this project, she ensured that all proposals for the project were made available to the public, and her staff help townhall meetings to discuss the project with the people of Alaska. She budgeted prudently, vetoing hundreds of millions in frivolous projects, while at the same time forward funding education and increasing funding for special needs by 175%. She introduced health care legislation advocating patient choice, personal responsibility for one's health, and market driven solution. This proposal also sought to revoke the Certificate of Need mandate that often acted simply as bureaucratic red tape for expansion of health care facilities.

Wrong, Dreg. She didn't strike it rich and then quit her job. She resigned as governor and worked smarter than you, apparently.

She faced a barrage of ethics complaints (most later dismissed).
Which ones weren't dismissed?
