This post is making me all sniffly and homesick. Go to my old hood and pose with the Full House houses [preferably with a picnic on a sunny, warm day, and your own bottomless mimosa fixins from Tim's at Fillmore and Hayes, the best bodega. He carries fresh fruits, veggies, eggs, and bread, and I swear I saw both 4Loko and Veuve Clicquot there one day].

Go to Rickhouse, and drink 4 or 5 Bella Fragolas for me -- probably a good thing this place was not around when I worked on Bush and Kearny. Speaking of "Lower Nob Hill," I like Tunnel Top but, correct me if I'm wrong, does it not occasionally have a very strong cleaning product odor... like a freshly cleaned restroom? Cool space, though.

Macaroni and cheese at the Grove... mmmm. I ate once at Masa [food art to make you weep]. Everyone should go to the Tonga Room -- some friends took me out for a goodbye SF day/night and we hit Alamo Square for day drinks, martinis at the Top of the Mark (Willie Brown was there! Bay Area life experience achieved), and scorpion bowls at the Tonga Room.

I never got to Foreign Cinema but I will someday, damn it. I miss everything about that city; fog, hipsters, bike subcultures, nonexistent parking spaces, terrifying clinging-on-for-dear-life-over-Pacific-and-Fillmore cab rides, all of it.

I second Harry's -- do they still have the $9 Monday lunch special? $9 for a a burger, thick-cut fries/salad, and a beer. Perfect for that one day a year when it's sunny during the day and you happen to have the day off because hey, it's MLK Day, and it's sunny and beautiful in San Francisco in January.

Oh man, I miss it all so so much.

Do you like to drink delicious things in totally awesome spaces? Definitely go to Rickhouse. It opened after I moved away and I'm so glad I ended up there twice on my last visit.

Maher might not be able to because the show is on premium cable -- that's just a guess, though... it could just as easily be douchiness.

It would definitely be interesting to look at the wage gap, whether it makes a difference to ask for more [and how much of a difference], and what the impression is of women who *do* ask. I know there are studies that come to conflicting conclusions on this very thing, although I defer to others when it comes to study parsing and statistician-ing.

I would read anything you wrote, but the wage gap would be very interesting, particularly a historical look at it and helping to contextualize the current gap and how it may not be obvious but still exists....?

I so dearly want a mandolin, but I bought a Bialetti Moka Express this morning while out grocery shopping (do not grocery shop while hungry, hungover, or undercaffeinated), so am up to my quota of narrow-purpose kitchen gadget purchases -- for the day.

Out of um, online shopping for safe-cooking-while-drinking curiosity, what kind of mandolin do you have and would you recommend it to others?

I will cut someone for that apron-front sink, seaglass green KitchenAid, and matching jade glassware. Oh an the wine chiller. And the butcherblock. OK everything except that sink skirt.
