That sentence, should, of course, have read: "...anti-American columns won accolades from American progressives, and MANY SEGMENTS OF the Hispanic diaspora in the U.S." The key here is that she was heralded as a darling by the American left, and the foreign left--Chavez, the Castros, and other left-wing thugs. Again, my apologies for inadvertantly lumping Cuban-Americans in with other segments of Hispanics in the U.S. I am well aware of Cubans long-term suffering at the hands of communist thugs, and applaud any and all who stand up and be counted in the ranks of those who oppose totalitarianism.
