Yay, I loved this one too, though I actually wasn't as big a fan of the political intrigue. However, I'm thrilled to hear the audiobook was fab. Also, I friendship Denton and Paolo forever and ever. Also perfect gif.

OMG, GABY, I WANT TO GO TO ALL OF THESE PLACES. CAN WE DO THESE THINGS?

Nicole's:
2. YES YES YES. I loved this so much. Fluffy and shippy and lady power.
4-5. Totally with you on these two. I need to find the time!

Ashley's:
1. SHIPPING.
2. My suggestion would be to read this one but not JOY. Well, depending on why you love JOD, if you do in fact love it obviously. The second book kind of changed the way I see the first one and now I am torn and blah. So anyway. Definitely read it and then make your choice. Haha.
3. My favorite book from last year. So. Many. Feelings.

I am vair vair happy that you enjoyed this. Kenneally's books mean lots to me, though it was the third book (which a lot of people didn't like) which cemented my obsession with her stuff. They're all wonderful in different ways. The third's pretty dark, and the second has some serious darkness too. The fourth is fluffy fun like this one. :)

*high fives*

Oh, and my favorite part was her boy stuff and I looooove what you said about control, because that is so perfect.

I DNFed this one, and I'm glad I did. Seems like it definitively wouldn't have gotten better for me, which is such a shame. I loooove reading about the Soviet Union, but the inconsistencies in the book were driving me crazy. I mean, supposedly she had to touch people to read their thoughts, but then she'd randomly read people from across the room! Anyway, that bit about Yulia realizing she can't trust anyone? I quit when she really did have that revelation, because she lives in the freaking Soviet Union and is being controlled by the KGB. Of COURSE you can't trust anyone. Your parents told you you couldn't trust anyone. Why is this a shock?

I'm also trying to work on scheduling. I'm a few days ahead right now, but it's really hard to go from getting posts ready at the last minute to suddenly having weeks of ARCs read in advance. Hopefully we both get there!

"Because it's your freaking hobby and you make time for it."

Oh my god. I've been thinking about this because I tweeted about the books I'd read and someone went "HOW DO YOU FIND THE TIME?" Like, a fellow reader said this. Well, either I read quickly or I make the time. It's not fucking rocket science. It's not even eighth grade physical science. UGH. Pet peeve.

Even when I do go to the gym, I read. When I cook, I listen to an audiobook, not that I cook much. BUT STILL. Home chores? Audiobook.

Can we please mimic makeover montages pre-BEA? New life goal.

The switch is totally impossible, but for fluffy things I'm totally willing to overlook some nonsense if it's for a good reason, like genderbending or swapping. And, yeah, I don't think either would be so good at their new ice sport, but whatever. You are completely right about all of that.

Is that supposed to sound like a lot of shows? :-p I think I'm a bigger addict than you. I've dropped a lot of current shows this year, though. I'm actually thinking I might quit watching new shows entirely, only finishing out the ones that I've already started. Binge-watching is so much more fun.

Also, that paragraph about how you hate waiting over years? That. This is part of why I'm so into Asian dramas. Most of them are one season. It's so much more easily digestible and THE FEELS GABY.

I still watch a ton of TV. Personally, I thought pretty much all the new shows last season sucked, so I think that's part of why I'm sort of over American TV at the moment.

The only one that I think DEFINITELY needs to go in the buy pile is Scarlet. I really liked a couple more, even loved Fault Line, but I'm not sure whether they're Gaby books. BUT SCARLET.
