: Voters Support Conservative Values

I would insist foremost that GOP politcos both in govt and media stop buying into the endless gross mischaracterizations that are heaped on them from the Left. Just because it makes for an uncomfortable uphill battle, conservatives should not concede to what is a bogus picture. If you keep getting called a dirty skunk over and over, you might start to think that maybe you don't smell all that good. Just remember, it's them that stinks, not you.

Yours is a much better interpretation of the Mike Judge characters than my comparison. Young liberals, far from being clueless slackers, are actually very much like their mentors--they think they're smarter than the rest of us. Poker players love those kind of suckers at the table.

Yeah, I don't get the dog whistle thing. Or much of anything from the Amused One's arsenal of confusing invectives. I doubt Mr. 'A' actually knows what a dog whistle is or how and why it works. But when you're in the blog world you take what you can get--even schoolyard taunts and childish rancor. Hey, I've got a million friends.

As ridiculous as the ad concept clearly is, it does play to a certain voting demographic: People whose juvenile world view is limited to hedonistic pleasure and pop culture entertainment. Beware. Beavis and Butthead live, and they vote. I think Amused can speak to this segment better than I.

I'm one who doesn't assume that Wall Street wheeler dealers are by default conservatives who tend towards the GOP. In my experience, big time financial moguls are apolitical who can and will dance with any politician they're convinced can keep the music playing. For the big money players it doesn't matter so much who's in office as long as they can keep steppin' on the dance floor. Cynical but true.

The twisted thinking of American Socialists unfortunately still has its appeal. The Left will put blind trust in politicians who take money from private citizens and call it "good for the country." And all the while, they regard people who earn their own money as the "evil rich." I daresay that only a criminal mind could see sense in that.

We should remember that whatever the Left can't achieve through the normal channels of the democratic process, they always fall back on manipulating the legal system with lawsuits to force their agenda on the American public. Keep that in mind in the days following Election Day.

: Why Comedy Matters

Humor is basically well disguised aggression that allows us to laugh at the shortcomings and misfortunes of others. Way back when, I imagine that the first comedians learned that "The King sucks" was the sort of punchline that would cause one to forfeit their head. Comedy is both a science and an art. Underground cartoonist Art Spiegelman observed that we can laugh at a clown slipping on a banana peel. But if the same clown instead says, "I have cancer," the humor is gone. One of my favorite quotes comes from Will Rogers: "Everything is funny if it's not happening to you." Perhaps Laughing Joe could have benefited from that.

If Romney wins, will the dems accept the results? In 2000 they howled about Bush stealing the election but they eventually backed down. I wonder to what extent they might go to hold on to the presidency at any cost this time around. I don't think it's over the top to speculate that Nov 6 might be a flashpoint for something catastrophic. Someone set my mind at ease and call me paranoid.

Good to see Bemused still running with the pack. I'd figured that high school was back in session or maybe that drug store job opened up again. In any case, no thread is complete without that labored humor we've grown to know and love. In the vernacular of the canine, we appreciate the Alphas, and Betas in any discussion. But we should remember that the Omega dog is also essential to complete the group. For that we owe the Clever Mr. A some thanks.

Convinced of the media's over-hyped praise that's constantly heaped upon them, progressives march around in a never ending victory parade as if they've won something. Meanwhile, conservatives must fight uphill every day against the deceit,, mischaracterizations, and downright hatred of their principles. The Right has on-the-field experience dealing with their opposition, the Left has not. Progressives haven't yet gotten used to the kind of resistance they get from their conservative counterparts. Can there be any question which side is stronger?

Attaching the "phobia" suffix at the end of words is one of more clever ways liberals deceive and construct dishonest arguments. It's used to shut down the argument. By creating pseudo-clinical words, liberals can give themselves an altitude of medical authority as if they're merely quoting from the APA "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders." It implies that if you disagree with a particular issue, you are clinically dysfunctional. Clever. It allows liberals to simply end the argument there. The strategy of this brand of argument is essentially, "You're crazy, therefor further discussion is pointless."
