Alaina, I'm so sorry about your mom. It seems like you inherited such positivity, light, and inner (and outer) beauty from her, and I love that rather than mourning, you're celebrating her. The ones we love never really leave us...on the contrary, the mark of a life well-lived is how you live in in the memories of others. In that respect, your mom lived a lovely, lovely life.

And what a dinner to celebrate over! Bacon does, in fact, make everything better ;-)

I'm sorry about your sunburn, sweet girl! I got a really bad one a few weeks ago, too...I fell asleep in the sun on my the bow of my dad's boat, and when everyone found me, it was too late, haha! You're on the right track with the aloe, it works wonders, and your skin will forgive you this one time :)

Chilaquiles are my favorite! Going out to breakfast is so fun - I didn't always love it but now I totally do, especially if it's Mexican or Moroccan. Shakshuka with fresh pita and hummus is my all-time favorite brunch (next to a New York bagel, of course).

And I'd never get tired of the muffin recipes! They look positively yummy (especially with all the coconut), so keep them coming!

I love this recipe for seared zucchini with za'atar and crispy chickpeas - it's so addictive!

You totally still have readers! That's a nonissue :)

Welcome back! It looks like such a lovely festival, and this year was no different. I love your positivity and completely know what you mean by being in awe at how amazing and beautiful life is. Summertime brings those sentiments out in me, music festival or not. I'm kind of in love with the life you live, by the way...your blog and writing make me want to up and leave everything here and join you!

It depends on the occasion. If it's someone's birthday or something, going out definitely takes the cake. I think going out during the week in New York is more fun, because there are hardly any out of towners. Happy hours are so festive with the working crowd, though! I like them both equally. :)

I'm so sorry I'm late to comment!

Thank you so much for including me in your lovely list of bloggers, Alaina. It's mutual! You've been so welcoming, I've really liked our correspondence. And, of course, I love reading your blog. It's a wonderful window into your sweet life, and it's a pleasure to read each new post :)

It looks like you had a great time in Michigan, and it's totally understandable (and encouraged) that you live your life this summer to the fullest! Enjoy traveling, spending time with those you love, and filling your days with plenty of deliciousness. We know you'll post when you can, and when you do, you've got loyal readers who will be thrilled. Myself included :)

That French toast - WOW! It looks so perfect, with the berries and cashew cream - what a fantastic way to start the day (and a Friday at that).

I hope you have such a lovely time this weekend! Music festival season is the most incredible time of year. Make lots of new memories :)

Love this question. My strangest nickname? Chardizard. Like the pokemon (charzard). Because my middle name is Chard. Awful, right?

Your truffle recipe looks fantastic, Alaina! Oh, the wonders of coconut + cocoa butter combined. I'm going to have to try them.

Also, I got lost in reading your beautiful blog today--and I found myself smiling the whole way through. One of the best discoveries? Ma Muse. Gorgeous music! Just the kind of soul glow music I've been looking for. :)

Hope you had a great day, however rainy!

I love how candid yet graceful your posts are. "Yesterday morning Woody and I woke up and made love...and PANCAKES!" There's so much beauty and humor and goodness going on all at the same time. It looks like you live in a gorgeous place, too (that garden!). This post definitely gave me some sunshine on a humid, rainy day in CT :)
