When I saw the title to this post, I thought it was going to be against daycare. What a refreshing surprise.

My mom was an unexpected single parent when my dad left and she had to go back to work when I was 3 years old.

I, too, loved daycare. I went to preschool and then to Mrs. Michel's before and after school for 5 years. I LOVED it. I'm 41 years old now and am still in touch with Mrs. Michel. She still runs a daycare in her home. She loved me so much. Her four kids were like family to me. We grew up together.

I was nourished and cared for so well. My mom trusted them. When snow storms hit and she was stuck at work in downtown Boston, I spent the night at Mrs. Michel's. I LOVED it.

(Part 2 - my post was too long)

Might I encourage you to find someone to do that for you? It is just a buffer. Allows you to honestly grieve and honestly share joy FOR the person in person.

Just my thoughts....

And, that same friend does that for me. I'm 40 and single and thought I'd be sending my oldest off to college next year. Nope, not my story. I haven't given up hope. For 28 years all I've ever wanted to be is a wife and mother. The ache is deep and I'm so thankful for true friends who walk with me on the journey...

Megan, I love these super honest posts - not like your other posts aren't honest. I just applaud your vulnerability.

About 10 years ago when a dear friend was in year 6 of infertility journey, she pulled me aside and asked if I heard of anyone being pregnant if I'd let her know. She would rather hear from me so she could truly express her joy for the expectant mother when she heard in person. It was a little buffer. Those times of sharing news with her were so bittersweet. Since then she has an adopted daughter, a daughter from IVF, and a daughter who was a complete surprise after 10 years of doctors. Now, after trying another 2+ years to conceive, she's back in the infertility cycle. Yes, I know it is so not the same as never having a baby. But the same aches have returned for her. I'll continue to let her know that news of friends.
