Nikon adds its own 'secret sauce' to the Sony sensors. The base unit Sony makes is a little different per customer. Hence Nikon's ability to squeeze an extra half stop of performance from the Sony sensor.

I hate to admit it, but when I compare it to the 40+ switch and button positions on the pro Nikon/Canons, the lack of controls makes it look like a kid's camera.
