Yeah, I think it made a lot of sense back then and it was a great idea but I think that now they should add a "neutral" one, particularly with intermarriage being (I think) common.

Seriously, this. It seemed pretty clear all of them were benders, but when it was confirmed I just facepalmed. How myopic is that?! Amon (probably) rose from an existent resentment between the two groups, you have to represent them. Not to mention, having a five representatives of foreign countries ruling Republic City is a bit silly. They should be from the city, not Northern Water Tribe or Fire Nation.

I do have a problem with Asami (regardless of my Makorra feelins) and that I think she's going way to fast and I can't help but thinking that she has reasons for her actions that are not "Mako is hot" (though I'm sure that's a nice perk). I don't trust her, not yet.

I don't think so. I read it as the usual presenter getting affected by Dee and saying all that.
I find if one of the more terrible things of the story: what was going on outside the dinner, all that destruction (and the duck)
