Seriously! Hatha makes me want to punch something, which is NOT the yogic state of mind. :) All I can think the whole time is ughhhh are we done with this pose yet?!

Exactly! Proof that my theory is correct.

VInyasa for-eva! I seriously can't understand how anyone could NOT love vinyasa, but I suppose that's how hatha lovers feel about hatha (barf). The leggings are nike but they are over a year old, so I'm not sure if they still have them. Love them though!

Ooo I'm moving to Boston soon and I was reading about hip hop yoga. I thought it sounded like it might be a little too silly for me but maybe I should give it a try!

Power flow would be power, I just abbreviated. :) I know exactly what you mean about the class at your gym. If I have to hold downdog for more than like, a breath or two, I just go to child's pose. I love vinyasa flow because you never hold the poses for too long, but you hold them just long enough to feel the stretch. But seriously, hatha is my nemesis. Every once in a while I try a hatha class on yogaglo and I always always always end up fast forwarding the video.

I'm so glad the comparison was helpful, I'm a learn by analogies kind of girl. :) I'm sure there are some people out there who really can't find ANY style that works for them, but I really believe that there is something for everyone in yoga, so yes, keep looking! :)

So glad you've moved past the "too slow" belief, it's such a common misconception!

Definitely keep experimenting and finding what works for you! Even though I do mostly Vinyasa, I do Ashtanga once a week and yin (which I didn't talk about) once a week as well. I went years and years only doing yoga 1-2 times a week (or less) and still saw huge benefits, so any yoga you can fit in is fabulous!

Vinyasa is definitely my go-to, especially when I really want a more meditative class because I find the flow therapeutic. :)

Thanks Tina :) Vinyasa is a great middle ground class and I feel like it appeals to the most people. I feel like that would be a good fit for you as a kind of cross training. Hatha might be good for you after runs though since it involves longer stretching. Really it's about trying a few and finding what feels best, which is why even though Vinyasa is my favorite I also dabble in Ashtanga and some other styles that I didn't list!
