Disagree grandjacques. I think the CU roster of administrators right now is excellent. Some real leadership. CU - B is a great school that is poised to become greater.

Naive and elitist is right. She had two children. It is common in young women, you know. She had the determination and ability to multitask to complete her degree while her children were still young. What a mean-spirited post.

"BA: Vassar College, University of Colorado/Boulder" is still not correct. I interpret this to mean she has two BA degrees. Mayor Osborne, I've always been taught by all of my universities that even minor errors in a resume denote dishonesty. This is more than a minor error and I find it impossible to believe that it is a clerical error. Besides, it is disappointing that the mayor of Boulder doesn't seem proud of the fine CU - Boulder.

Daily Camera.com: : From the editorial advisory board: Taxes - Boulder Daily Camera

I don't know of any educational establishment or teacher that tries to portray any student with special needs "as bad as the most difficult cases". It is a real incorrect view of the education of children with special needs.

Daily Camera.com: : From the editorial advisory board: Taxes - Boulder Daily Camera

One big factor that is important to consider when looking at these charts is the issue of funding for students requiring Special Education services. In 1975, a federal law (IDEA) was passed that required school districts to accommodate children with special needs as much as possible, as opposed to isolating them in specials schools. While this certainly increased the costs to local schools, it is a civil rights issue, and the cost of educating these children should be distributed among all of us. For example, in Boulder Valley, 66% of the cost of this education was from local revenue (2009-10 budget on their website). Only 12% is from the state. These students are more costly to educate, and in BVSD the average per pupil cost is about $12, 500 compared with about $4,500 for typical students. Part of the increase in this graph after the late 70's was the increase in families being able to have their child with special needs stay in their home district and be educated in their local school. Again, this is a cost I do not begrudge. All children have the right to be educated.

Daily Camera.com: : CU-Boulder stuttering expert: \'The King\'s Speech\' is a positive film - Boulder Daily Camera

Dr. Ramig is a super expert and CU is lucky to have him. I agree with Marilyn, that in addition to being exceptional in helping people who stutter, he is a wonderful person. Glad the DC interviewed him for this. He is a perfect person to comment on this area.

I agree with this completely. I think the Camera goes after the low-hanging fruit, but I would like to see some serious reporting about our government. I would definitely like to see more about the issues with electrical energy and our future. And how transportation infrastructure decisions are made.

When public officials run for office, they typically talk about their character and beliefs, as evidenced in things they have done and supported. These issues continue to be important to the public while they are in office. I don't like media reports on issues that are not relevant to a person's role, but in the recent examples, they are. Like most other posters, I simply do not believe the Cowles. The editorial that Ms. Cowles authored simply added to my belief that they are being deceptive and misleading. Our city council members do not need to be perfect, and I appreciate the challenge of being in the public eye, but I didn't put them there. They ran for election voluntarily. Anne - I disagree with you. Thanks to the Camera for reporting on these issues. I think it is one of the most important kind of news in a very local paper. BTW: The story about the Cowles ended up on the Huffington Post.

Daily Camera.com: : Guest opinion: Camera has been unfair regarding councilman\'s home - Boulder Daily Camera

Regina Your arguments are disingenuous and misleading, and incorrectly characterize previous reports and comments. As you well know, the issue is not whether you and Macon should have volunteered that your house was undervalued. The issue is that you knew it was undervalued and still asked for a reduced assessment. You are basically saying that if you can get away with dishonesty and lack of ethics, it is fine. What a personal principle!

Daily Camera.com: : Pomerance: No mountain bikes in the West TSA - Boulder Daily Camera

The statements were in reference to a potential conflict of interest, not disparaging remarks about the wife. I think that information is relevant. I have to declare this exact kind of conflict when reviewing federal grants and I am eliminating from some reviews for far less contact. Saying someone is biased is not a personal attack. It is a statement of opinion. To be honest, I look forward to Mark Gelband's comments.

You are not talking with enough people if you estimate 95% are very happy. You are denying a lot of facts, such as the number of people who have attended discussions on these issues. And I think Mark Gelband did not write a personal attack. He addressed the issues. Whenever someone says something different than what you believe, you call it a personal attack. I would say your response to Mark is a personal attack because it did not address any of the issues.

Daily Camera.com: : Greenlee: Missed opportunities - Boulder Daily Camera

I have investigated hosting a small (600 attendees) for a international organization in Boulder. There really is not a place where you can have both concurrent sessions as well as whole group. My colleagues would love to have a conference in Boulder. We are not typical of other cities of comparable size. Plus, many of my international colleagues talk about bringing their family and going into the mountains. Boulder could really use a convention center.

Daily Camera.com: : Energy issues to dominate Boulder\'s agenda in 2011 - Boulder Daily Camera

I am having trouble understanding many of the things on these wish lists. Last fall, it was all about exploring our 'energy future' yet now, only Osborne and Brautigam have recognized that there is a lot of time and attention to this goal. Macon is focusing on trees and agriculture in the county. Crystal wants to work on peace. A lot of these wish lists seem to reflect personal agendas rather than thinking about what is important to Boulder. I agree with Karakehian that Boulder needs a reasonable conference center.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder energy meeting prompts questions about openness - Boulder Daily Camera

I saw Ken Wilson's email on the hot line. Thank you Ken Wilson! In the same month we voted on 2B, there is a meeting that is typically public that is closed to a smaller group. It is difficulty to have backroom agreements in public meetings so declare that it is for invited individuals. A meetings that elected officials cannot attend even if they want to. A meeting that included businesses who may have bids with the city. Why does Steve Pomerance decide this? And who decided that Obsborne and Appellbaum were the selected two? However, these meetings should be public if they are talking about issues that the taxpayers are funding. Again, thank you Ken for your willingness to not be quiet about this.

"We believe we are at a crossroads....The city could continue being a national leader in multi-modal transportation and the best city for bicycles in the country...[or] choose a future of shrinking revenues for the existing systems and lost opportunities for modest improvements. Wow, two extreme options and no option looking at budget priorities. Days after citizens voted to fund a 25% larger school budget, more $$ for human support, and more open space (ok, I did not vote for that), we are told that we may have a 'fee' imposed that would not require a vote. Yes, deceptive tactics for sure. I'm getting really tired of this out of touch council.
