While I see the sweetness in lauding 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries, I am also aware that couples of that generation often lacked choices surrounding their domestic lives, and find it very hard to make the choice to live apart or with more modern expectations.
Have you, your daughter and your parents talked about the unhappiness in your parents' relationship? It can be a tricky subject, but opening up about these topics can be very informative for young adults.
