I've read to both my children since they were babies. They liked rhyming words, so we read lots of nursery rhymes, and the same books over and over again. I talked to them a lot, even when I was changing their nappies! It seemed to work :). My youngest was a bit of a screamer, because she had blocked ears early on, and her language skills took a little longer to develop. After getting grommets in her ears, she was sleeping better, had fewer ear infections and her talking really took off. Good luck!
