I feel the same way about advice/victim blaming to women to avoid 'bad neighbourhoods.' Excuse me, some women have to live in those neighbourhoods.
Add another vote to the 'pro-life hoax' column. This is extremely fishy.
I heard about this story this morning. Disgusting.
A lot of women who convert or adopt the hijab later in life express a sense of relief at not being ogled, sexualized and objectified all the time. The also talk about freedom from the body image issues of tight clothing. Our society imposes its own expectations on women. Not everyone feels liberated in a bikini.
I don't really see how saying that it is wrong or bad to burn the Qur'an is an attack on the first amendment. No one's arresting this man, but they are saying he's a bad person.
I feel actually that's more a trait of omnivores. I mean, they'll keep some animals as pets and eat other ones, for fairly arbitrary reasons. But yeah, a lot of people are more outraged at cruelty to dogs and cats than to swine and cattle.
I have struggled with labels and identity for a while. One thing I do is to change what I call myself based on whom I'm speaking with. To people that are GLBTI, or knowledgeable about our community and politics, I will identify as queer. To Joe Q. Heterosexual, I identify as 'bisexual', as that makes more sense in the mainstream culture. Sometimes I have to take on some baggage and poor assumptions when I identify as bi, but I try to battle these. I personally feel 'queer' is for advanced players.
Wait, GROWN MEN use Axe? Tell your unhusband he smells like grade 8.
Haven't you been paying attention to movies and tv shows? Being gay is about liking fashion, not sleeping with men.
I want to give you a thumbs up because of the astuteness of your remark, but I'm not really happy about the fact that you're probably correct. We'll call this a closed fist, maybe.
