We can assume that they were picked up by the cops at the beginning, since there are records for that. The dirty cop robbery had to have happened. And the raid on the boat obviously took place. The events between the two robberies are highly questionable. I have no problem with large parts of the story being entirely fictitious though. The character mixing lies with the truth is perfectly plausible.
