I love this open, honest, transparent post! You remind me of my daughter, Tracy, when she was in her 20s. Such "push-pull" feelings. She is married now, but before he proposed, her counselor asked her, "If you weren't obsessing so much about getting married, what would you be enjoying right now with all your senses, sight, taste, touch, smell, hearing, being with friends?" She said that really helped her, to step back, and reframe her situation. Also, I wanted to thank you for stopping by and leaving such kind comments on my two posts today! They were very encouraging to me! Many blessings to you!

love, love, love this post, and this quote..."emphasizing as part of the invitation that all emotions were welcome in her home. I remember the feeling of relief that flooded through me when she spoke those words. "All emotions are welcome." As adoptees, we need to get to the point of allowing that of ourselves. All the feelings. Not just the safe or approved ones"... My counselor helped me see that "all feelings are neutral"...she would have me draw a pie chart in my journal, writing a different feeling in each slice of pie, and then journaling about the circumstances surrounding that feeling that day...helped me to visualize all feelings on level ground...enabling them to come to the surface for healing from our Heavenly Father <3

Deanna, thank you for sharing your heart with us so openly, honestly, and transparently ... I thought of you today when I heard Natalie Grant's song, "Held," so true..."the promise was, when everything fell, we'd be held..." http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WAo2zdRbXic&desk...

Amen, Deanna <3 so much mystery surrounding our adoptee lives…just this week the Lord revealed this new understanding of the mystery through Psalm 139: 13-16 Amplified—“For You did form my inward parts; You did knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will confess and praise You for You are fearful and wonderful and for the awful wonder of my birth! Wonderful are Your works, and that my inner self knows right well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was being formed in secret [and] intricately and curiously wrought [as if embroidered with various colors] in the depths of the earth [a region of darkness and mystery]. Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days [of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them.” I wrote about how I have learned to expect a mystery in this blog post… http://bethwillismiller.blogspot.com/2009/10/conc...
