I won this book in a competition, and I'm SO EXCITED TO READ IT. Yaaay!! I'm really glad you enjoyed it - it LOOKS like it's going to be amazing, that's for sure!

I thin weird bedside tables are a side effect of being bookish - I have a bedside chair with permanent bookstack on it. Apparently I like to have books near my head when I sleep? I know what you mean about buying too mnay books from the supermarket - most of mine are from Sainsbury's or ASDA - I just can't resist a cheap book! I definitely want to read Queen of the Tearling though, so if I see it next time I'm doing my groceries it's coming home with me!

I've heard some great things about The Fill In Boyfriend - it sounds like the perfect fluffy summer read! I've never heard of Switched though, and that sounds quite interesting too... despite the fact that I have NO interest in romance!

I love these tags! People's responses are always so funny! I LOVE the idea of a TBR jar - sometimes I just can't choose which book to read next, so that would come in handy! And I'm super lucky, because NONE of my friends/family read, so no one ever asks me to borrow my books. Yay for avoiding awkwardness!

This post really resonated with me. I'm a pessimist too, and I find that an awful lot of my reviews recently have been more about complaining than jubilating. I'd like my blog - and my blog readers - to feel jubilated when they visit, not turned off. The issue for me is that I only really review books where I feel a review is necessary - ones that I loved, or that I was disappointed in. I need to stop picking out flaws in books that I enjoyed, and just celebrate them for what they are.
Thank you for making me realise this!

Oh, I loved this post! It's such a creative idea... I'd love to borrow it one day (may I? Pleeeeeaaaaase??). But yeah, those authors are extra specially good at manipulating readers' emotions.

Haha, I actually have a really similar article sitting in my drafts folder - my answers are almost exactly the same as yours! I HATE audiobooks, partly because of the pacing, but also because of the voices. Female narrators, please don't try to do male voices. British narrators, please don't try to do American accents. I just hate them. I swapped Kindle books and hardcovers around though - ebooks are great to take on holiday (hardcovers are not!), but they're sooooo badly edited it makes me cry (I am an editor, so that is a completely legitimate response!). Paperbacks are the best. End of.

Haha, 'wasn't good enough to redeem the genre'. COMPLETELY AGREE. That genre is just synonymous with bad writing and poor characters and drama for the sake of drama... I think I got to chapter three of this and then gave up. Not worth it!

I actually really love the way that amazing quotes can stick with you, regardless of whether you loved the source or not. I think there's something special about that. (And I love that Tigerlily quote. I always seem to forget about Tigerlily. I loved that book!)

I think the thing with blogging is that there is always pressure to do better. You can always write that one extra post, comment on that one extra blog, read that one extra book, design that one extra element... it's exhausting. I kept my old blog for a 15 months before deleting it as it just didn't compare to all of the other wonderful things I was reading. Hopefully my current blog will last a lot longer than that, but the pressure is still there.
I do think that it's an amazing hobby to have though. It's creative, and gives you the opportunity to bond with people thousands of miles away (my blog is most commented on by Australians for some reason. I'm English. Literally the other side of the world!)!
