I think that's supposed to be Omelas, not Tharios. Although some do walk away...

I didn't remember this episode, but I managed to call one scene perfectly. As Harry is sneaking around trying to get away, and breaks into his friend's room when he doesn't answer the door, I said out loud, "Oh, is he nothing but a desiccated husk?" Then, a moment later: "Ooh, I was right! He IS nothing but a desiccated husk!"

I had to laugh!

I listened to the videos unspoiled, and I guessed. First fire - they get there and see Bennat coming heroically out of the fire carrying someone to safety. Second fire - they get there and see Bennat coming heroically out of the fire carrying someone to safety. THAT was where I guessed.

I know Mark didn't do written reviews of the Enchanted Forest series by Patricia C. Wrede, but it's too bad there's no mention of it anywhere - people are missing out on some fun videos!

The story is even more amazing when you consider it was written before the technology it is satirizing had actually been invented...

Is there a list anywhere of the books that you have read on Youtube but have NOT posted reviews of on this site? I discovered the Enchanted Forest Chronicles videos by accident, and if there's a way to find any others without scrolling through your entire Youtube inventory that would be helpful!

If anyone is curious about hidebehinds, there is a description of one variety in the children's book "McBroom's Zoo" by Sid Fleischman. To be specific, it is a Great Seventeen-Toed Hairy Prairie Hidebehind, one of many animals blown off course by a tornado that carries off the topsoil from McBroom's farm - so to raise money to retrieve it, they take in the strange creatures and charge admission at a zoo.

I'm sorry, I just checked and I was wrong. It is NOT a thirteen-toed hidebehind, it is a Great Seventeen-Toed Hairy Prairie Hidebehind.

Love that book, although I'm blanking on the bit you mentioned - guess I need to reread it! Better brush up on my poetry skills...
