totalBarca : Pictures of the Day: Cuenca, from fan to teammate

Unfortunately these days, with the New York Red Bulls, he is just phoning-it-in. He is obviously just there for the pay check and has been pretty unprofessional on and off the field.

totalBarca : Video of the Day: Why "Més que un club"?

Yeah, I know the story, but wasn't aware that it was officially considered by FIFA to be fixed and that players were directly threatened with death. It looks like the quotes are taken from a translated wikipedia article, which is not the most scholarly of a source. I'm just trying to clarify some details of what was a disgraceful day for football.

What is the source for the 11-1 incident? I have heard many different versions of what happened, but never something so direct as what was portrayed in the video.

totalBarca : Sergio Busquets: A meteoric rise to stardom

Vicente del Bosque and Pep both adamantly disagree with you. The speed at which Barca plays when Busquets is in the midfield is so much faster than when Mascherano is plying in the same role. Mascherano is probably a better outright CDM, but in Barcelona's playing style, Busquets is the better choice.

It's pretty easy to go pull some quotes from well respected past Madrid players, coaches, and staff that would say otherwise. You don't think that some of that sentiment is shared by a portion of Madrid fans?

Don't really agree with this. There are plenty of Madrid fans that are ashamed of Madrid's recent actions on the pitch. The ones that should be in this cartoon are the coaches and their staff.

totalBarca : Player Reactions: FC Barcelona 3-2 Real Madrid

That is playing right into their hands. Didn't you see how Mou provoked Tito before he was slapped and the little smile he cracked immediately after? Mou wanted that to happen. He wanted to have the fact that Tito physically retaliated as a counter point to his own actions. I understand what you are saying, but it won't be effective in stopping Madrid's brutal physicality. Instead it will only escalate the tension on the field and give the Madrid press more reason to smear Barca's name.

Iker was livid during the 5-0. To the point where he just kicked the ball as hard as he could every time he had possession. Him giving away possession is one reason Madrid did so poorly in that game.

It's a financial decision. He can see out his contract, collect high wages, and then leave on a free to a club that he actually wants to go. It makes a lot of sense from a player's perspective.
