Sure! I buy it from Swanson's Vitamins -- Enzymatic Therapy Energizing Iron. A few years ago when I was having a minor surgery, the doctor wanted me to donate blood ahead of time for them to give back to me after the surgery, only when I went to get it done I was borderline anemic, so they told me to take iron and come back next business day (it was a Friday before a three-day weekend). I took double doses of this stuff starting that afternoon and when I went back in on Tuesday morning my blood was so rich they assumed that the Friday reading had been a mistake. I know it wasn't though, because I've been borderline anemic since college. I knew I needed to take the liver extract regularly, but was lazy about it. I take it more regularly now -- especially at certain times of the month. It really does make difference and doesn't cause constipation, which every other iron pill I've tried over the years does.

HCL? I take Enzymatic Therapy's liquid liver extract (in a capsule). That stuff's magic.

I should try to remember what Heather said about your shadow -- I have no idea when my shadow isn't longer than I am tall, but I don't generally spend much time out in the sun around noon because I burn so easily. I try to go out in the morning, because I've heard morning is better for you in lots of ways than afternoon sun is.

I'm A+, too. The book doesn't say that As are supposed to be vegetarian, but it says that we generally handle dairy and grains a whole lot better than O-types do. Also, we make less stomach acid than Os, so we have to be careful about the amount, type, and quantity of meat we eat since we have a harder time digesting it. He suggests we rely more on eggs, poultry, fish, and dairy for animal protein, and consume only small portions of beef etc -- and eat it less often, if at all.

From what I can tell, A is the only type that can be vegetarian successfully, but that's not the same thing as saying all As ought to be vegetarian. I'm like you -- I need lots of eggs and cream to feel well. :-)

Healthy Origins D3, 10,000 IU. My doctor had me taking one a day for about six months before my blood levels got back up in the normal range. Now I usually take it once or twice a week, and my blood levels have stayed normal for the last two years. What I have noticed is that each winter since I started taking it has gotten easier, and this winter is the best so far -- it's almost the solstice and I haven't started craving spring yet.

What blood type are you, if you don't mind my asking? And are y'all familiar with Eat Right for Your Blood Type? My doctor had me read it, and an awful lot of it rang true -- I'm A and my husband is O, and we're pretty typical of what he describes. I am, unfortunately, one of the As that doesn't do well with wheat, but I can eat spelt with no problem. But since I read it I've been asking other people their types and what kind of diet makes them feel best, and so far the pattern is holding.

Happy Blogoversary! I'm very interested in what you have to say about THM. I've been taking Armour thyroid for about three years now and it has helped me feel better, but I don't feel well, and it's impossible to lose weight (without doing crazy stuff, as you said).

What Vitamin D do you use? My doctor had me start taking it a few years ago, and wow, does it make a difference in the way I feel during the short, dark days of winter.

It's really hard to talk to a computer screen and sound natural -- you did a great job!

On the pronunciation of "l'umile pianta," Italian works more like Spanish than like French, if that helps. If not, there's a website I love, IM Translator, that pronounces things for you, and here's that phrase: http://tts.imtranslator.net/V1fe

I'd like to know how to pronounce Bestvater, too. I hate not knowing how to pronounce people's names.

I don't remember if I mentioned it here, but I've said that about phonics before. I was looking into methods of teaching reading over the millennia with two ideas in the back of my mind -- one, that not all kids need phonics instruction to learn to read, and two, I knew that in the 1700s they weren't using phonics, so when I came across classical educators who made it sound phonics instruction was the only truly classical way to teach reading I was very skeptical.

I have the same skepticism about modern math instruction (and by "modern" I mean over the last century or so), but in this case it seems that the modern method isn't enabling the masses to understand mathematics in a way only the elite could 300 years ago -- it seems that it's working against the child's natural brain development and is stunting our understanding of mathematics.
