Bin lorries: once a week.

Airplanes: all day from 630 AM to after 9 PM, every day, every week, every month, all throughout the year.

Glad to see at least the council takes noise pollution seriously - as does pretty much every civilised country in the world - and won't let the City Airport get away with causing needless sound annoyance for literally tens of thousands of Belfast residents.

It's bonkers to let an airport get away with this whilst there's a perfectly fine and underused international airport a few miles outside the city causing almost no noise pollution at all.

The noise is absolutely dreadful, especially now that BCA hosts bigger planes flying to international destinations. Having a handy wee airport close to the city for quick flights to UK destinations is one thing - big international holiday destination flights is an altogether different thing. It beggars belief that BCA is allowed to fly such big aircraft while we have a perfectly fine INTERNATIONAL airport on our doorstep in a very thinly populated part of the country.

Oh and those claiming people shouldn't move to close to an airport, they're obviously utterly ignorant of the realities of why people live where they do. It's rarely a deliberate choice. The NI executive does have a choice - whether to allow thousands of its citizens to suffer needlessly from noise, or whether to make the right decisions that benefits everyone in this country.
