<title>Alan Davies : Why is the system for registration so slack?</title>
<link>http://davies.info/why-is-the-system-for-registration-so-slack#IDComment71882974</link>
<description>Even with all of the students registered to vote in Ceredigion, the vast majority of students won&amp;#039;t be voting there. I think if 1/3rd of students registered by the university voted then that would be a real achievement. And it isn&amp;#039;t exactly like the students living in Ceredigion suddenly vanish, they&amp;#039;ll be replaced by another batch the year after. The students now are making a decision on who can best represent them and their predecessors for the next five years. And they&amp;#039;ve as much democratic right to vote so as anyone else in Ceredigion does. And surely the answer to all of the above concerns about the student vote (setting aside partisanship), is that the student &amp;amp; local communities need to be better integrated and that students need much, much better access to their candidates as well as local people as well as better political education, right through the education system. </description>
