I absolutely, wholeheartedly agree with this. While many valid points have been brought up about how some aspects of this post may be "ableist," we would not be honoring the vulnerable truth that it *is* a difficult decision that confronts many women and is so rarely talked about for the excess of judgment that has been displayed over the past couple days.

So Dusti and Andrew, know that there are at least a few of us that support your right to make the decision that you did and wish you all the best.

I love this! Totally, coincidentally the idea of purging and focusing on doing more of what feeds my creative energy is also where I have been this week as the summer winds to a close and I try not to beat myself up too much about how little I've gotten done in that time.

What I'm letting go of:
- junk food (really, I don't need a cookie or a gelato EVERY DAY)
- trimming my Twitter followers to those that I actually talk to (needing less SM noise and more ME)

What I'm adding:
- at least 30 min of regular physical activity (yoga, walking, running) a day
- keeping up with my own writing through 750words.com

Good luck to you and all of the other ladies joining in on this journey!

Not to fuel the charity-cynicism parade, but here's an article criticizing donating-an-animal schemes like World Vision: http://www.christiantoday.com/article/world.visio...

You know, I've been thinking of this too. Because, as someone above has already said, there's a lot in Nikki's dreams that we all feel - we want to be somewhere, be doing something that makes us feel *right*, feel *alive* and joyful to be alive.

And really, there's nothing in that that we can't all have right? Why should anybody settle for normal, boring and "good enough"? Wouldn't the world be a better place if all of us were doing what made us come alive?

Just my two cents

and PS: Nikki, I totally and completely admire how courageous you are being to share your dreams with us. Thank you.

Second the above, the comment about knowing that every choice you make is the right one is the best thing I've read in today / in a really really long time.

Also: what is that wonderful gelato place in New Orleans?

Hi Heather,

I'm coming to this whole thing fairly late and haven't read any of your other posts, but just reading this and reading your bio made me realize: that I wish I could be you when I grow up.

For now, I'm starting medical school (and possibly getting an MPH or MBA) and I guess there's no point of saying that I'm going to ditch everything and go travel and write and see the world just yet. But, let me say, it's just amazing knowing that someone else has done it and that that door will always be open for me.

Thank you.
