Absolutely agree with you. I myself am pretty doubtful about the existence of Ram and the etceteras.
And even if it were true, NOTHING justifies his treatment of his wife.
The narrative of the Ramayana was essentially a manipulated epic and has been tilted over the years to suite the Vaishnava sect of Hinduism.

I could so totally visualise this. I was at my cousin's wedding a year ago, and me being the closest to her age, I was practically threatened at gun-point to do all the ordeals like going for a 6-month long shopping spree, going to the 'designer', selecting the same colour lehenga but in a 'different' shade.. :P
And then there were those endless comments about how I'm 'next in line', at which I felt like procuring a gun myself.. :-/
