You've got a standing ovation from me on this! It's so important to realise animals and nature are not just there for our enjoyment. Sounds simple but so many people do NOT get it! Did you hear about the kangaroo in China that got stoned to death in a zoo by tourists who wanted to see it hop? Makes me sick.

I definitely agree that a few minutes research is the least we can do to ensure the wellbeing of the animals we're going to see. You can apply these rules in general to most animals tours around the world!

Such an interesting post! I love how you break down the options and show that you're in for some risk wherever you go - and that that's totally not the point anyway. I agree, seeing the aurora would be a great added bonus for any of these destinations, but hopefully isn't the entire reason you're going.

This looks like such a beautiful place. I'd have fallen in love at the bridge alone! What a great place to get out into nature and enjoy some beautiful sights. I think I'd have been happy just to poke around outside and not go into the buildings, either!

Yum! These all look so delicious. I'd be going straight for the tacos, personally! Sounds like you had plenty of good options to choose from though. That's rubbish that you're fructose intolerant, I'm not sure I'd know how to go about cutting that out. I hope it goes well for you!

Stavanger looks lovely! I'm glad you found a place to live that suits you a lot better. I had a colleague who worked there for a while and nearly packed up and moved his whole family there because he loved it so much. Hope things continue to go well!

I am totally convinced! Sign me up. If only it weren't so far away. I'm a big fan of street art so I'd definitely go and check that out, plus those walks look beautiful. I still haven't seen the Northern Lights yet so that would be top of my list. Great guide, Van!

Exciting times ahead! I look forward to finding out where you end up, sounds like all 3 would be great options. Good luck to Simon with his job hunt and enjoy your summer!

I love views from up high! Definitely the way to do it. Also I think if you've had to work hard to get them they seem even better! I think I'd be tempted by that cable car though...

Thank you for writing this bilingually (is that a word?!) as it gave me a great way to practice my very rusty German! Hamburg sounds like such a great city, yes perhaps overlooked by many tourists in favour of the more 'famous' locations. I'd love to visit one day, in general I really enjoy visiting Germany so any excuse!

Creamy cream! Ha. I love how different ingredients are in other countries. Although I don't love it when I'm in the shop trying to pick what on earth I need. In the UK we have single cream, double cream and whipping cream but here it's pure cream and light cream. I have no idea what they do. Cream problems aside, that pudding looks delicious! A bit like a cheesecake? Yum.
